Again, I'll say that we'll see a truly different team against the Cowboys with Griffin returning and both starting corners finally back.

If the defense can hold them to 13 or so points, we'll have our answer about whether Brunell is really the problem.

Yeah maybe he will have one of his record setting performances if our defense holds them to 13 points.

Re: Why Brunell is Struggling

Neither Gibb's nor Saunder's offenses cater to these players. We have speedy receivers, and a smaller faster running back, with a slow QB. Sounds like the ingredients of a mike martz offense. These players would benefit from spreading out the defense as much as possible with 4WR sets and running draws up the middle and off tackle. however, we don't seem to have the QB for an offense like that, and saunders likes pulling O'linemen on screens and such. Just seems like a complete disaster right now honestly such a mismatch between personel and gameplan, again goes back to the need for a Gm. If we wanted to help brunell we would have gotten a big receiver that can go up and grab those ducks that brunell throws. Instead we got the opposite. Hopefully it will work itself out, it works for the jets, they have similar personel, probably cause we trade players with them every year.

I don't see why it's so hard to understand why the coaches may not consider Campbell to be ready. Coming out of Auburn he wasn't considered to be a guy ready to step in right away and it was generally understood that he was a bit green. Add in the fact that he's learning his 2nd offense in as many years and a complex one at that, I think it's reasonable to see why the staff doesn't want to go to him until the team is all but out of contention.

He will get his chance this year, but some people have been freaking out and wringing their hands over him not playing going back to last year.

Relax.
I here you, and you could be a 1000% right about Campbell and his progress right now, that was my contention from the get go when we drafted him. But you can't ignore the fact that even if Campbell is not ready to run this offense neither is Brunell, Or Brunell is incapable of running this offense [or any other for that matter] but you have to keep in mind as well that the reason he sat was because Brees was playing at a pro bowl caliber level there was no need to insert a rookie, either way I think we should find out if Campbell is the goods or not, I believe Brunell has proven he is not, Campbell should at least be awarded the chance to fail.

I would rather go with an unproven player than a proven loser, at least you have a chance with the unknown ability of a player, unlike with Brunell who has proven he can't cut the mustard!

If we wait for Campbell to be ready to step in and win games off the get go he will probably never be ready, the man needs on the job training, he would learn more in one game at this point than a month in practice, you just can't simulate game conditions in practice. Especially if Rogers is covering recievers in practice, practice would be way to easy.

The reference you were aiming for was Methuselah. Moses did not live that long, by Biblical standards.

Good non-Biblical references to use when referring to age are Jane Pittman or Euby Blake. Whe mocking Brunell's lack of mobility you could also throw in Walter Brennan. "The barn's on fire, the barn's on fire..."

Moses also led people to the promised land. Comparing Brunell to Moses is like comparing Hitler to the Pope.

Moses split the Red Sea in two. Brunell splits Redskins fans in two. Moses gave the people the 10 commandments, Brunell gives his receivers the 10 yard pass. Moses was once played by a young Charleton Heston, Brunell and Heston used to play together as young kids....ok, I'll stop now

Re: Why Brunell is Struggling

I think it's several things: 1. The O-line play has been subpar to say the least. That is partly because Al and his complex play book. Also, I think our O-line has great potential but, as of now they are underachieving. 2. Brunell is a proud veteran and thinks that his play is not bad, when us outsiders see differently. That is called being blind to the fact. 3. Brunell is simply not a starting qb. anymore and Gibbs is just too hard-headed to see that fact. Also, let me supplement number 1 by adding that the O-line has not given Brunell enough time in the pocket to work through the progressions. That being said, I have been one of the few Brunell guys in here to stand-up for the guy but, not anymore. Thanks for the memories Mark, and thanks for killing this season for us fans! In the movie The Bad News Bears, "wait until next year!".

Brunell also splits the defensive safety coverage in two. and doesn't see the promised path down the middle.
