Makes sense, the guy is extremely injury-prone at this point in his career. So even if he had a clean bill of health going into 2007, he'd still be a walking medical emergency waiting to happen.

IMO, that's a sign that no team should want to sign him, let alone the 'Skins.

Our fans grew attached to him while he was here; but we have to realize that things change. Careers get derailed because of injuries. Everyone needs to accept that he's never going to be the same player again.
With that said the injury he suffered last year may be what his knee needed in more rest to get it healthy. I'm no doctor but it would make sense and some team is going to sign him to some kind of contract. I think it does make the move last year to let him go look much better. Everyone was saying it was a dumb move but he woulld have been on our roster for two years sitting on the bench.

a huge disapointment? I dont think so. the last two years were injury plagued seasons, the other 5 years, he was as productive as any OLB in the league. (let the ripping begin!!)

Not to rain on the parade but I have heard a hundred times that Taylor and the other guys on the defense are undisciplined. So what exactly would Lavar (even less disciplined than the group that we have now) be bringing to the table?

If he would accept a minimum deal, I would let him try out. That is it.
dont you remember how well the defense played when he was finally inserted into the starting line up during our 6 game winning streak. He averaged double digit tackles in both playoff games, had a pick that set up our first score and knocked out Alexander in the other(helped knock him out)

That was probably the most tragic aspect of Lavar's career in Wasington, not the injuries & undisciplined play, but his standing by his agents while the nflpa & congress questioned their ethics.
I said it in several of the many Lavar posts, I really believe the rift w/Lavar & the Danny all stems from the postons.
first off, all players are going to stand by their agents, especially ones you have had your whole career. He acknoledged the over sight by his agent, he said he wasnt worried about the contract, he said he was all ready a rich man, that playing in DC was the most important thing, more than the 6 million. Danny and LaVar were very close, until this whole contract thing, which the NFLPA forced the arbitration thing. Lavar wanted it dropped. they wouldn't let it drop.

Yeah that's great and all, but I don't care about what he's done, I care about what he can do from here on out. Chances are he can't do much in 2007 because of the achilles. And with his recent penchant for injury, and chronic knee troubles, I don't like his chances of being available when his team really needs him. He can't be relied upon very well anymore.

I have never heard or seen LaVar ever say anything negative about Joe Gibbs, or Williams. Now he did not like Lindsay, for sure. the only thing I remember him saying was if Joe wanted him here, he would be here. If you are going to say something like that, provide proof.

We need players, not problems. LA became more distraction than player. Obviously, it isn't working out in NY either. Let the cast-offs go elsewhere

I actually think this isn't a half bad idea... if he would sign for little or no $$$$ compared to the last time he was a Redskin. He's injury prone, but he's great for morale......

Too bad he hates Gibbs.

As much as I like LA, I don't want to see him back. Too many cameras, too many comments.

FOX Sports - NFL - Everything you need to know for Week 5

"This was a very tough week for Giants LB LaVar Arrington, who was basically called a dummy by Dale Lindsay, his old position coach in Washington. Arrington responded by saying Joe Gibbs was the worst head coach he ever played for."

San Diego Chargers, Shawne Merriman, National Football League - CBS SportsLine.com

Q. Which coach wouldn't you like to play for?

Arrington: Joe Gibbs.

Re: Giants Cut Arrington, Emmons, and Petigout

It probably would have been easier if LaVar would have ever admitted he was hurt. Instead, it was always a conspiracy by the coaches to keep him down.

By the way, I thought our front office was the worst ever and was a complete disaster for failing to keep guys like Smoot, LaVar, and Ramsey. So now LA is cut, Ramsey (after getting ass splinters all season long) probably won't be back with the Jets, and Smoot could be gone as well after making his biggest "splash" on a boat with the Vikings.

Very good point. Let's hope the players will recognize that, and the perception of us neglecting "core" guys is changed.

Now, if we could just keep our draft picks!

Very good points, Taf.

In hindsight, these were all good moves. For every bad move we bitch about, there are probably two good ones they have made.
