Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

Dannyboy hires an OC first.....what the hell is that?....seems we will have Jim Fossil face as our coach......he must of been the low hanging fruit that would allow Dannyboy and Vinny C. to meddle with the team and play their fantasy football. I'm sure G. Williams basically told Danny that he would be the "coach" and in charge of everything and Dannyboy didn't like that. Dannyboy better be at the first press conference to answer the question...."You kept talking about continuity and being so close when Gibbs left....so why did you blow up the coaching staff?".........hopefully everything will turn out well in the end...but if we blow the first 4 games with a "new" outside coach.....Dannyboy better get ready for the "Fire Snyder" chants.....

Zorn? Isn't that the guy that tried to create a micro-chip monopoly by blowing up Silicon Valley?

With all this, I still don't understand why the FO is intent on getting rid of Al Saunders, who's history, is one of an annual top 5 or 10 offense. It's clear that the Redskins talent is mediocre not the coaching. I don't think DS or VC can see this thru their burgundy colored glasses. Al Saunders is a great O coach. Sad to see him go.

Why do we now wait for Spagnuola to interview? If he's hired he might not want Zorn unless it's already been spoken about.

As Chris Landry said on the radio...as he laughed...it starts at the top and right now we need a football guy to make football decisions. He stated that the problem isn't our coaches b/c right now we have some of the best coaches in the league. Talent wise we're still somewhere around average.

How true. It looks like DS's making the decisions not a football guy. Sorry to be so negative, Zorn, from what I've heard is pretty impressive/hard working guy. He could turn out to be good. I just don't agree w/ hiring a staff before a HC. I also don't think alot of guys are better than Al Saunders. If so, i'd challenge anyone to name them.

Hard to prove Zorn is a better OC than Saunders....look what happened the last month of the season...very productive offense and a significant playoff run with an old QB...everyone from the Chiefs said it took a full 2 years to get the system down....what does synder do? ditch Saunders when it is finally starting to work....for who?
Zorn...a flashy name with minimal experience....

Am I wrong? Doesn't Zorn have zero OC experience?

Wow...going from the most experience offensive coordinator to the least...thats one way to improve offensive performance....

Geeze, I hope Im wrong and Zorn tears it up....his youth is good if he does.
But damn...it looks like the first step in blowing up a strong coaching staff.

Since when is Jim Zorn a flashy name? Zorn wasn't on anyone's radar.

One of my favorite Bond movies of all time. His character name was Zorin.

ESPN - Williams is out of running for Redskins' coaching job - NFL

This is turning into some real Jerry Springer stuff....somehow I don't see Williams "bad mouthing" Gibbs

Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

Well Zorn is a good choice but I would of stuck with Al Saunders for another year to see if Campbell could take his game to the next level. Now Campbell and the Skins offense has to learn a new offense. Hopefully this works out. HTTR.

Zorn is 54; 6 years younger than Saunders, and 5 years older than Gregg Williams.

Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

Is it possible for a new OC to adopt the complete 700 page playbook from the old OC?

I'm sure it would be easier for Zorn to adapt than all 22 Offensive players to change, don't you think?

Not that he would of course use all 700 pages, but gosh it seems an awful waste of good paper!

I agree with this post 100%. The moves this front office is taking make no sense but hopefully it works out for the best. HTTR.

Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

Am I the only one that think Nick Saban and Jim Zorn look almost exactly alike?

In college they asked him a similar question, they said would he be more comfortable using a pen, or a pencil, he said he would be more comfortable with a box of crayons.
