Re: RI: Something to chew on (Mariucci speculation)
It makes sense. Which is why Snyder won't do it.

That may sound silly, but remember some years back (believe in the mid 90s) when Jimmy Johnson announced his decision whether to coach or not (can't remember what team) on Fox's halftime show when he was working in the studio? |

Re: RI: Something to chew on (Mariucci speculation)
Stroke is far behind Bruschi
Mariucci/Redskins Former Lions coach Steve Mariucci , out of coaching since being fired with five games left in the 2005 season, has to be taken seriously as a candidate for the vacant job in Washington. Redskins owner Dan Snyder plans to interview Mariucci on Wednesday, and Snyder likes personality and a high profile. Former Giants coach Jim Fassel remains Washington's top candidate, but no decision is expected until after Sunday's Super Bowl.

Either way, neither of them had it before our very own Paintrain back on January 8. Paintrain fo' Life!! Still, I'm not sure Mooch "loves" VC as much as sources say VC "loves him. That could be a road block.

Re: RI: Something to chew on (Mariucci speculation) (Update: Interview Wednesday)
I think Mooch is a good coach for the Skins. I think he might be a good choice and he would be able to help Jason Campbell since he did a pretty good job with a young Favre and had some success with the 9er's

Re: RI: Something to chew on (Mariucci speculation) (Update: Interview Wednesday)
I'm not sure why, but the more I think about it the more this move seems to make sense. Mariucci fits with the staff we've hired/promoted; he's a known quantity to Vinny and he'd make a splash, which would still appeal to the somewhat-reformed Snyder. (Yep, I do believe that he did change for the better under Gibbs.) Also, waiting to hire him after the SB would explain the stalling tactics over hiring Fassel. I think if Fassel were the first choice, he'd be hired by now. I think he's Danny's hold card. If things work out, Mariucci will get the job; if they fall apart, then Danny will turn to Fassel.
Of course, I could be 100% wrong. |

Or maybe Detroit is following the leader with JLC and Bram, and those two are the cutting edge of Redskins news!

Re: RI: Something to chew on (Mariucci speculation) (Update: Interview Wednesday)
I heard them talking on the NFL network this morning and there reporter (forgot his name) spoke with Mariucci. He said Mar. did not conferm that he has spoken to the skins but did tell him that he does want to return to coaching. To me its sounding more and more like Mar. will be our next coach and some of these hirings would make more sense.

Because Mitch Albom is one of the "sports reporters" for ESPN.

Re: RI: Something to chew on (Mariucci speculation) (Update: Interview Wednesday)
Well the one hole is the notion that VC and Mooch are really tight. I don't think that's necessarily true
