If so, I would bet that the bucs sign him. If Gruden likes him, they have the cap space to overpay him. I could see him fitting in there.

There's always the possibility that the danny gets him to sign before he leaves Redskins Park, but it doesn't seem likely that enough $ would be on the table for him not to make other visits first.

Could Hackett be as big a hit at WR as S.Moss was coming in here from the Jets? Could he [Hackett] like Moss need a new place and a starting spot to get the chance? Or is he just another also ran?

I think durability would come into question here, as Hackett was out with a high ankle sprain last season. I would say that under the Zorn system, Hackett would flourish. Although I am glad that I keep hearing that the team wants to get Hackett "for the right price" so hopefully they won't overspend on this possible acquisition.

Hackett is a free agent...so we would not need to give up any picks to get him.

D.J. in DC for dinner with Vinny. Sounded on Redskin radio for lunch like they all but had a deal? I guess we will know soon enough.

First, this is one of the days I did not catch the start of the show....I was playing with my dog in the yard while home for lunch.

But when I turned on the Live broadcast around 12:25, Larry Michael just made the statement that from the way Vinny was talking about D.J in his opinion it sounded like all D.J. had left to do was sign the papers.....so I'm not sure if Vinny was the special guest today or if they spoke prior to the show or where he gathered that opinion, keep in mind it is Larry.

But, IMO I don't think we will have to wait to long to see if it's going to work with D.J. or not.

Hackett Coming For Visit
thanks for the update Mike.

I would imagine that the Skins, if as they say they're being fiscally responsible, will have a deal proposed, but Hackett will not be awed by it.

I wonder if we're his first visit? If so, he's testing the waters but his agent will have an idea of what kind of $ is out there. It will likely take a double digit bonus, i.e. 10mil, or more to get him to sign before leaving Redskins Park.

Could be true. If he believes that Snyder's reputation is still intact, Hackett will probably use us to gauge what he can get. "If the Redskins won't pay me bug bucks, no one will!"

I believe the Bucs still have a lot of cap space. He'd be a good fit there & if Gruden likes him, I see them paying him the most he can get. They have a pretty big need at wr too.

Very true freddy.

If he leaves DC without a deal....and lands in Tampa with the cash they are spending and have to spend, also have a need at the position. I'll be very surprised if that isn't his new home.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett

I think the Skins are in a position where they are holding all the cards. For the first time since I can remember they are entertaining a free agent which they don't need to sign.

They can:

- Draft an impact WR in the first few rounds
- See if Mix is the man
- Wait to see if a big WR becomes availiable via trade
- SIgn Hackett to a reasonable deal

It's nice for a change
