In my opinion and everyone entiitled to their own opinion but this is a stupid Thread it's only been one game. I'm as mad as anyone but when you watch the game tomorrow you will see Offensively we didn't play that bad. It's the first game i even have to say it the giants are an elite team we will get them at our house wait and see.

Re: can WE now start a countdown to a new coach and qb

On the whole JC actually played pretty well. On the Osi fumble play, JC needed to step up. On the interception, JC combined indecisiveness with foolhardiness. Otherwise, however, he was good at finding the open man and delivering the ball on target.

What JC did not have was help from the running game. Whereas the pass protection was not too bad, the run blocking was just awful. And, outside of one run, on the rare occasions when the holes were there, our backs did not take advantage.

JC also did not have help from the defense. Our tackling was just horrible and the secondary gave up too many opportunities in the middle of the field. I'm not sure that Laron Landry, for all of his talent, "gets it" yet.

We have at least 15 more games. Let's hope that some of these problems are fixed the rest of the way.

Here's the other thing: in the first half (second quarter), the offense we ran was very, very different from anything we ran last season. In the second half, it was nearly identical to what we ran all of last season.

But that's the difference this year: we can rely on our receivers to beat the DBs. Last year, it was defensible to try to take the game out of the hands of the receivers. This year, you have to let them make plays downfield.

If you can't win with that kind of QB production, you're never going to win. If Zorn doesn't adopt a more pass-heavy offensive philosophy, it's hard to see them scoring more points then they did today.
I almost didn't even read this thread. Because of the title, I didn't expect anything intelligent to be said, just a lot of hatin'. Then GTripp had to write this ^. The Giants set themselves up to stop the run and had a depleted secondary. When Campbell did pass, he was pretty successful. The INT was a poor decision but that DB couldn't make that play again to save his ass. ARE had a great game but where was Kelly, DT, Mitchell, Davis? From what I saw we rarely had any 3 WR sets. At some point Zorn is going to have to take the reigns off and let these guys play.

It's one game Tramp. How many other teams would have gone into the Giants stadium and won on opening day? Some maybe but certainly not the majority of teams. We'll make corrections just like last year. For some reason we seem to use the first game as a "Learning Experience". Someone needs to tell Coach the first game counts too. I wasn't crazy about running when we should have been passing.

Re: can WE now start a countdown to a new coach and qb

I didn't think O-line protection was all that bad today. There were a few times when Jason was pressured, but overall, it seemed he had time to throw. I think the bigger problem was that too often there wasn't anyone open other than Cooley and Randle El underneath.

Did anybody else notice how it was Portis off left tackle on pretty much every running play? The first one worked for 34 yards, but man, they kept trying that play for the rest of the game and it just wasn't there.

Offensively, there's still no cohesion and it just doesn't look like our players are getting Zorn's system. And I don't think Zorn even knows what Zorn's system is. I said this a few weeks ago, but this offense is suffering from an identity crisis.

Good post.. I was wondering same thing about the playcalling, as well.. I'm sort of excited about ARE moving back to slot position, it seems he's doing very well.. He definitely will have good season if the 1st game was just the beginning.. I sure hope to see a LOT more of Kelly, Thomas and Davis later throughout the season..

As for Zorn; all I can say that I guess his inexperience of coaching shows.. Zorn obviously has the characters to be successful coach, but perhaps jumping to coach from QB coach instead of O coordinator is too much..

EXACTLY.............AND we went to there house and played them toe to toe. It was not a route, but rather a.........semi-competative game. Not to many teams will be able to say that at the end of the season against these guys. We will improvise, adapt and overcome!
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS............
It really will be ok.....

That's 14 out of 23 points that Campbell's mistakes directly can be blamed for. There's no excusing that.
didn't Eli do exactly the same thing and our offense didn't capitalize?

I gotta agree here, was I the only one that saw Portis constantly running into his lead block, that was weird

Re: can WE now start a countdown to a new coach and qb

Since I didn't get to watch the game, maybe I'm a little more pleased than most. The NFC Beast is the hardest division in football, and the G-spots are on top of the division. I didn't get to check the score after the fake FG, and we were down 0-17 before that. Looking at the stats, JC had a decent game against one of the most dominate front four in the league. I did notice a lot of 10-15 yard plays going for the Giants, but it really looks like we clamped down on them the second half.

Bottom line: It's game one of a long season and if we stayed close with the Giants, we can run with any team in the league.

Observation: Two seasons ago we couldn't finish a game to save our lives, I hope this years problem isn't starting the game slow. HTTR!!!! Semper Fidelis!!!!
