Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)
Please defend this claim. I'll take just one example.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)
I could be wrong, but I think today our CBs were not playing well and were giving the Rams WRs a lot of room.

Couldn't you say exactly the same thing about our offense, that we never take obscenely negative plays on offense, we just sometimes end up in third and long thanks to uninspired first and second down play?

That's true, the DB's didn't play all that well today. But I didn't see guys blowing coverages. STL scored 7 points so in two weeks the defense has given up 23?

I think I said this already, but I thought Blache called a solid game. He seems to do well against offenses built around a single player.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)
I think he misused Rogers against Laurent Robinson, but that seems to be more of a complete personnel issue. Last year, you could have gone with Rogers against Avery, and Springs against Robinson. This year, Robinson is just a mismatch for whoever we have on him.
Big and physical receivers are going to own us all year. That's not Blache's fault, we just constructed the secondary poorly in the offseason.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)
Well yes there aren't a lot of neagative plays cause the offense is conservative. But that doesn't mean we're not poorly coached on offense.

If the argument is that the Skins D is well coached because they don't blow many assignments, and the offense also hardly blows any assignments, I'd say that, in this example at least, the units are equally disciplined.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)
Not necessarily. I would have driven a harder bargain with Hall, cut Smoot, used the leverage in the FA market to the best of my ability, would have extended Rogers at the price of the Hall contract, and would have made sure that at least one player that I brought in could match-up with bigger receivers. I know the NFC East went a lot smaller at WR this offseason, but the Giants didn't have much trouble throwing on Hall at all.
If Springs had fit in, I wouldn't have been against keeping him, but he was kind of a non-essential part of the plan, at least until we didn't really replace him.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)
I'm officially waiting on Mike Shanahan to come on in and fix this offense right away. He will completely change this offense into a scoring machine. I thought Zorn would be alright but he does not have a clue. It just make me wonder if Campbell is the problem with the offense. Maybe Campbell is not showing that he knows the playbook good enough to call certain plays. Just a guess! We have too much talent on both sides of the ball to be mediocre. We need to start a petition to get rid of Zorn and Blache. If I see our cornersback play 10 yards again on a 3rd and 5 again I will completely lose it.

No wonder his last name is Smoot, because of smooting them down!
