I think it was Irish who told me Danny could be reached at 1-800-ASS-HOLE.

That would be an ideal situation for us. However, i'd want Snyder to sign both of them to 5+ year contracts that would be large enough he couldn't "afford" to can them after 2 years if things started out slow.

One other idea that would intrigue me is Holmgren as GM with Shanahan, Gruden, or even Dungy (if he was interested) as head coach. I honestly don't think Cerrato is that bad of a personnel guy - I honestly think he's got quite a bit of talent - its just that he either doesnt have the balls (or authority) to say no to Snyder. I fully beleive that Gibbs got whatever he wanted personnel-wise when he was here, and I dont think anyone other than the guys i've mentioned would carry enough clout in this organization to have final say.

That said, NONE of those guys i've mentioned should be a HC/GM. We need one smart, proven, football guy acting as a true GM with total authority over football operations and another smart, proven, football guy as our head coach. This is the NFC-East. Having a "GM" operating with one hand tied behind his back (Cerrato) and an unproven, inexperienced HC/PlayCaller/QB coach like Zorn is never, EVER going to work and Snyder was a fool for even entertaining the idea.

In 2010, we need to go into full-on, rebuilding mode. None of this "half-a$$ed rebuilding while committing huge chunks of future salary cap to old veterans in an attempt to win the superbowl every year" stuff thats kept us a perennial mediocre, 8-8, give or take a few, team over the past 10 years. Its time to get ourselves a real GM with total authority and a proven HC. We need to use the uncapped 2010 year to shed contracts for overpaid, underperforming guys like Randy Thomas, Casey Rabach, ARE, Clinton Portis, (Yes, Clinton Portis), Ladell Betts, Rock Cartwright, Andre Carter, Cornelius Griffin, and Fred Smoot and start building through the draft. 2011 will be capped again, so 2010 is the time to cut all the "fat." With all these changes, 2010 is probably going to suck. As will 2011. But if we play our cards right, around 2012 we will be poised to compete with the annual contenders - teams like the Giants, Steelers, Patriots, and Colts.

I'm not "giving up" on 2009. I'll still root for the team every sunday. But until Snyder effects some real change, this franchise will never, ever be great again. Its week 4 of the 2009/2010 Season. When the seasons over, i'm sure i'll be hearing rumors that Zorn's been replaced by Jim Fassel, Steve Marriucci or some other POS coach - I atleast want to dream that some real change could happen around here.

Sadly, the ownership and the fans don't have the patience for this.
