Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
Has Bugel lost it? Or did the stars just align at the right time for him to look like a Oline Mastermind? I know Bugel is near and dear to us but it seems lately the product he is fielding is lacking and it makes you wonder when other teams can have injuries along their line and rooks/2nd stringers step in to keep it going and we cant.

Compare in your mind the current crop of OL to these guys: Original Hogs Russ Grimm, Joe Jacoby, Mark May, Jeff Bostic, and George Starke (Papa Hog). Add to that Raleigh McKenzie, Mark Schlereth and Jim Lachey, TE's Don Warren and Rick Walker (both original Hogs), and RB John Riggins (Honorary Hog). Well, it just makes you long for the good old days when we had Bobby Beathard as our GM, doesn't it? |

Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
If we dont draft Oline this next draft ill FKN SCREAM.
Its sad to see a team like Miami who went 1-15 push the jets defense all over the field 2 seasons later. I couldnt believe the physical lineplay they showed in that game vs a good front 7.

Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
I understand ALL the frustration this season has brought, as I feel it to. The Dan has taken a beating in the media like never before as the tyrannical, meddling, egomaniac who has single handedly dismantled my beloved Redskins.
THAT may be true..............but it may not. Anybody here know him personally? He would deserve the same thing anybody else would want. To be accused and convicted of his NFL crimes on fact rather than speculation, and hearsay. I'm not saying he is not guilty, but things are frequently not what they seem?

I will have to agree, when we look at the product he is putting on the field.....it ain't good. Exactly how it got in that shape may be another matter as it happens behind the scenes

Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
well as the season continues and the redskins continue to handout winless teams their first victory. It doesnt look good for the moral of the team. Me personnally, I dont put no blame on the Snyder, he has done everything possible to bring talent and turn this organization into a top contender. We as fans have gotten used to the way he constantly made changes, that we now expect him to be his old quick trigger self. He is finally giving an opportunity to a 1st time coach, following the guidelines that Joe Gibbs said this team needs longevity. And we are ready to jump ship. Call me crazy, but I am impressed by the way Snyder has taken this whole situation.

Although it is a tired argument, it is the absolute truth in my mind. The evidence for that being, Cerrato was hired in 1999 when Snyder purchased the team, and has been here ever since, except for a short period when Schottenhiemer fired him. The very next season, Marty was fired and Cerrato re-hired. During his time here, Cerrato has only served to weaken this team, yet he continues to keep his job -- in fact getting a promotion in 2002. Our personnel is a mess and so is our cap -- all attributable to Vinny. He's been here 10 years -- certainly long enough to get things in order, or for Snyder to realize he ain't cuttin' it. How Vinny keeps his job is either a great mystery of the universe, or he's Snyder's butt-buddy.

Seriously though, Snyder, in my opinion, is not all at fault. But, while it's very commendable that he'll do anything possible it takes more than that. He's a good owner in that sense that he almost never says no to what he and his coaches want...he'd be great if he sometimes did

The truth is, Snyder wants to be GM more than he wants to be the owner. They're two distinct roles, and Snyder can't fulfill either one adequately. I think Snyder cares a lot about the success of this team, but he cares more about himself. He'd rather be the GM of a worthless team, than be the financier of a champion.
