the italian goal came from yet another de rossi dive. i shouldnt be surprised, italy are the worst bunch of cheats at the world cup every time. pathetic that they had to cheat to tie lowly new zealand. props to NZ, i respect them. but man ive despised italy for years and years. i hate serie a as well.

I have an Italia soccer t-shirt. Just some old shirt my mom got me a few years ago from a trip she took. I never wear it really. Today I did just 'cause, wasn't even thinking really. My teams are Spain and Argentina (and I guess USA as well). What a day to wear an Italia shirt around town.

I can believe there was another game without a winner.

Buster, just wait until the knockout round. You'll get winners in every match. Maybe even a shootout or 2.

It was only a matter of time before the French squad completely self-destructed and embarrassed themselves...

I was surprised by Cote d'Ivorie, as they had Brazil playing very flat and had multiple early opportunities to capitalize, but anytime the Brazilians had the ball, CIV pushed everyone back, leaving only Drogba up front. Huge mistake, and it cost them dearly.

Portugal just completely crushed North Korea this morning. Like a damn spigot, the Portuguese went complete apeshit.

Currently have the Chile-Switzerland match on, and the red card the ref handed the Suiss in the 1st half was a horrible call, but the Suiss defense has held it's own with 10 men.

I have to admit I've watched more soccer than I ever have in the last week and I've actually gotten into it a bit. But those damn horns have gotta go. So f'ing annoying.

I actually don't mind the Vuvuzelas at all. I think it's nice that it feels like you're actually watching a match in South Africa.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

It is unbelievable (and great!) that the French team so completely self-destructed. From one of the favorites on June 11, they've become an international laughing-stock and a morass of dysfunction by June 22. Perhaps they hired Vinny Cerrato as a consultant.

I didn't expect Uruguay to look so good. Perhaps they will reclaim some of their former glory.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

Just glad Raymond Domenech is finally gone. I don't care for Anelka anyways, so it was no big loss. But to lose control of your team in such a way. Then you have the players who refuse to train 2 days before a game that could put you into the next round? Not too bright. Laurent Blanc has a huge job ahead of him reshaping that sorry excuse of a program in time for Euro 2012.

Nice to see Diego Forlan (formerly of Manchester United) play well. Between Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile and Argentina, five very tough South American squads, four of which could be in the Top 4 when all is said and done. Italy and England have been unimpressive, as has Portugal and Spain.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

forlan has been a top class striker in la liga since he left man utd so its not a surprise to see him doing well, although he is being used in a deeper role for uruguay. they have been solid but once they come up against a "big" team i expect them to go out. mexico-france-south africa has proven to be a pretty weak group.

cant wait for the usa game tomorrow.

So fitting that Domenech would end France's World Cup debacle by refusing to shake hands with South Africa's coach after the match
