Also, these injuries to the O-line are very concerning. It's not like we had a huge amount of talent and depth there before, hope Donovan has his running shoes ready. He may be running for his life...

Re: It's F-ing Colts Week

the things that concern me most about this game:
- our OL going against mathis and freeney
- Peyton making our secondary look as bad as some people on this board say they are

like one analyst pointed out, if Sam Bradford wasn't scared by what he had thrown at him by the blitzes of our defense, then Peyton won't be scared at all by it.

remember though, 4 years ago, we were tied with Indy at halftime at 14, and our guys were getting some big hits on Peyton...

Re: It's F-ing Colts Week

I'm not so sure the slow and steady approach is going to work against the Colts. It's not like they need a lot of time to score points. I think it was against the Titans last year, maybe the Dolphins where they didn't even have the ball for a full quarter and they still put up nearly 30 points and won. We need to put points on the board to win, as obvious as that sounds. And I think we're going to need a big score off of special teams and/or defense to pull off the win.

Re: It's F-ing Colts Week

I'm new here just wanted to post a few of what I see as the keys to the game and then see what you all think.
#1 we have to pressure Manning without blitzing, if we can not reach him with 3 lineman and either Carter or Orakpo rushing we are in for a long day, Peyton picks secondary apart on blitzes.
#2 With Freeney and Mathis going up against whoever we put out there (praying TW gets healthy enough to be out there and be effective) roll outs and quick drops in the passing game are going to be the only way to keep McNabb upright, so I'd look for Cooley to have a good game
#3 Freeney and Mathis are actually better against the run than people give them credit for since they can crash down the line so quickly, so no hesitation running no stutter steps, just one step and then downhill running. I think (though we dont have enough evidence yet) that Torain is this kind of runner.
#4 is our return game, we NEED something big out of Banks again this week.

I really like our chances in this game if we can do 2 or 3 of the above 4 points well, remember Colts receivers tend to get alligator arms with a big hitter in the secondary and they will be seeing LL in their nightmares all week!

Welcome to the board Jon, good thoughts

Anyone else concerned we might not have Rocky on Sunday?

Re: It's F-ing Colts Week

Did you guys notice how effective Romeo Crennel's d was against him last week in the Chiefs game? They mentioned he ran a 2-3-6 look most of the time and it was very successful in confusing Manning. You think Haslett is crazy enough to try and replicate that look this week?

Also if there is one week where we might have a great chance at getting some serious rushing yards it might be this week. Colts have been bad against the run this season, and we could use the run to set up some nice play-action.

Thanks for the greeting Smoot. Concussions are nothing to overlook but I still assume he will be playing. Another player who has looked way better this year with this leadership.

Yeah I really think getting Torain off to a good start & establishing the run game will settle down McNabb & allow him to use the play action successfully.

Re: It's F-ing Colts Week

I was wondering, with 5 weeks in the books, when the coaches are gameplanning, they now have solid tape on the Colts. I know they watch all the film, but as a coordinator, do you focus on where the Colts succeeded, or where their opponents did. Again, I know they study all of it, so I am just curious where would they spend more time.

You can watch all the tape you want on the Colts but at the end of the day it's Payton Manning throwing slants, fades, posts, curls, out routes, hitches, and handing off draws. Your job is play zone, not fck up too badly and to get lucky!

Re: It's F-ing Colts Week

So, Peyton plays on defense?
Put it this way - would you watch more of the Houston/Jax games where the opponents offense had good success

or

Would you watch more of the Giants/Broncos games where the opponents Offense couldn't muster much in terms of points.

Are we talking about our offense against their defense? Because you post is generic. If you quote people I and others would have context.

As to your other question you watch every single game...be there 24 hours a day watching film if you have to.

Id be more concerned if it was a loss in the secondary.

I guess Zo moves inside, Chris Wilson outside if this is the case?

Not hearing alot of people talk about the return of Fat Albert...I think his presence could be huge inside and he is going to be motivated for sure.

Re: It's F-ing Colts Week

If Rocky is out on Sunday, and being that the Colts currently have no running game, lets just play a 3-3-5

Carriker-Kemo/Fat Al- Gholston

Orakpo- Fletcher- Lorenzo

Hall-Rogers-Horton-Landry-Moore

sounds good to me

We were up 14-13 but I get your point.
