Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
Don't forget Leinart. Guy already has a year in the system, but Seattle seems like a much better fit. Then again if Carroll was interested in his former QB he would have signed him before the lock out.

Just heard from someone else about the Redskins' interest in VY. Still have no idea how they would plan on doing that. This time of year kind of sucks for me, too much information. It's as much work filtering through the crap as anything else. That said, this sounds like it could be fairly legit. Not like last year's Peppers rumors, which I could instantly tell was bogus

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
That's a good question. Maybe they have Young battle it out with Grossman with Beck as the #3. Or they let both Grossman and McNabb walk and take a QB in the later rounds, someone like Taylor or McElroy maybe? But then you're talking about Beck as your #2! Not sure I want that.
If they got Young, would they also take a QB in the 2nd round (they won't in the first, not at #10)? I suppose, but my gut is getting Young would mean they don't want to, or can't, invest in a QB in the first couple of rounds. It's just a shame we have to do this all over again this year. If it's Young, or Locker, or whoever, I'd just like to get a QB here that will be here under center for at least the next 5 years. 5 years, that's all I ask

Young & Locker I could get behind...but Young & grossman scares the hell out of me!

Agreed. I don't see the upside of Young and Grossman

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
Young is a scary situation for us honestly but for some reason I always thought the redskins would make a serious play for him. I think the guy has rare talents but can he get over his mental shit? That's a big question mark

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
The irony of this VY conversation is the Titans loss to the Redskins was the catalyst that put this potential release/ trade into motion.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
Young had a solid year last season, 98.4 qb rating.. He will never be a pure passer nor will he ever be a TOP 5 QB but he's a winner and that's something the Redskins havn't done in a while.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
I would take VY over Smith any day. Smith just doesn't have IT. VY has a lot of upside and intangibles, but has battled his personality and emotional issues. I say give him an incentive laden contract and write him a VERY large prescription for PAXIL and WAMMO.....

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
Hey guys, original question, who would you rather have Vince Young or Jason Campbell?

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
Campbell. Oh wait, I want a team to be able to do better than 8-8. If VY can get his head straight in a new venue, definitely him. I've been paralleling Alex Smith and Jason Campbell recently. I don't think Campbell has the IT to take a team all the way.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks
I love spinach!
Someone asked me if I were a betting man, would I say VY will be the Redskins starter on opening day. Um...my guess is no. Nor will it be Palmer, or Hasselbeck, or Smith, or any other non-Redskin NFL QB rumored or not rumored. I think Grossman will be the opening day starter and a month into the season (give or take a week) the QB I expect us to take in the mid 1st to mid 2nd (probably Dalton, Locker, or Ponder) will be starting. Then again, around this time last year I bet that we'd sign Grossman but that he'd be cut by the end of preseason, so....shows what I know
