Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Yeah, I never liked him. Colt came from a school that played most of their games at home, with their opponents, not only of lesser fare, but they had to fly like 7,000 miles to get to HA. Any QB could have had that passingrecord if they had those advantages going for them. Daniel I thought should have stayed, but even that was a coaches call.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
The players felt like Grossman gave them the best chance to win too, I'd assume everyone does.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Let me throw this out there, because I hope it's a similar story...
Rex Grossman (6'1, 222 lbs) = Joe Theismann (6'0, 192 lbs) anyone?? As a reminder... Theismann did not start regularly until he was 29 (John Beck anyone?), when he had his first season where he started more than 7 games. Grossman is 30 and has just one season of more than 7 starts while in his 20's as well. So at age 30, they both are close in games/experience, which for both was not good... but people forget just how bad Theismann was in his 20's. I'm sure when he got the starting nod, people laughed as well. Check Theismann's numbers in his 20's: GS W-L COMP-ATT PCT YDS TD INT SACKS RATE 25 14-11 369-768 48% 4,967 30 40 98 60.4 Here's Grossman's numbers in his 20's: GS W-L COMP-ATT PCT YDS TD INT SACKS RATE 31 19-12 524-971 54% 6,197 33 36 58 69.5 Some things that stood out... Theismann was garbage early in his career. How many guys could survive to 30 in today's NFL with a 48% completion pct and averaging an INT every 18 throws? Also.. check out the huge difference in sacks. Theismann has (CORRECTION --->) 40 more in 200+ less dropbacks! However, as we all know, Theismann was DECENT at age 30-32 (58.6% comp, 9,327 yds, 56 TDs, 49 INT, 78.5 QBR), then put it together for 2 1/2 years from age 33 to 35. He was 34 when he had a career year (60% comp, 3,700 yds, 29 TDs, 11 INTs, 97.0 QBR) & won a Super Bowl. Last year, at age 30, Grossman was 55.6% comp, 884 yds, 7 TDs, 4 INTs, 81.2 QBR... and honestly, surprised with how "un-horrible" he was. Then this Preseason he looked even more comfortable with the offense and throwing to Moss & Gaffney (who he played with at Florida). To add, if you get the time, check out how horrible Doug Williams was (47% comp, 66.2 QBR) before he turned 30 and went to Skins as well... Just saying.... Grossman could be on the same path (with the new "Smurfs/Fun Bunch" = Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong, Austin??) What can I say? This the one time of year we are all pumped about how great we'll be and I'm all in!

I want to have drink with Riggo. If I ever see him out, I'm buying him a drink and from what I hear he won't turn it down.

In 9 games in 1982, he was sacked 30 times! In 1983 (his career year) he was sacked 34 times in 16 games. In 1984, he was sacked 48 times in 16 games! These were the 3 great years (2 Super Bowls, etc.) ... I hope this line can live up to those numbers at least!

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
You are not going to get another Joey T from either of these guys. These guys are a stop gap til the 2012 draft. And don't be too surprised if we pull a Shuler/ Frerotte type thing either( first pick and late pick both QBs). At this point it wil be great to get Moore, Keenum or Foles as our #1, then get someone like Persa in the later rounds. Persa is a great QB but is still rehabbing from the torn Achilles, so his value will go down, but will be a great QB pickup. There will be other decent Qbs available in the mid to latter rounds next season. The kid from Texas A&M looked decent.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
He's a very hard worker, and a student of the game. Of course he's a starter.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Rex Grossman to start for Redskins - NFC East Blog - ESPN
. That the Redskins' coaches believe, based on the impressive way their defense, their running game and their offensive line performed in the preseason, that they have a better chance to contend this year than they originally believed and Grossman is the surer bet to play the kind of simple, mistake-free, good-decision quarterback they'll need.
