Watch the game from last weekend. Look at the pass coverage and the tackling on running plays. Look at the "pass-rush" presented by the defensive linemen - - nominally the best in the league.

The Pro Bowl is flag football without the flags. Hard to make that a compelling contest...
They could ease up on some of the rules. No I don't mean letting a db tackle a receiver before the ball gets there, but allow creativity on offense and defense. Let them run a 6 wideout, 3 o-linemen, 2 qb scheme if they want to. Allow them to stack 4 receivers on one side of the field. They should encourage creativity instead of stifling it by making the defense play a 4-3 at all times, and mandating one tight end on the field for every offensive play. Everybody knows defense is going to be lax in the game anyways, let them have fun with it.

The way it is right now is a joke. And bring back the skills contest, but replace the dumb skills events with fun abnormal things that test them athletically. I can't wait to see the ratings for the Pro Bowl this year, because I know the NFL put the PB before the SB specifically to encourage ratings. If the ratings are bad that'll at least give me encouragement that the NFL will try to figure out new innovative ways to make the game more fun again.

However, for a reason I cannot begin to explain, this year's Pro Bowl drew a big TV audience.

Beats the s[p]it out of me...
Well, there goes my hope that things will change. As long as it gets good ratings the NFL doesn't care.
