Re: Redskins OTAs
I wonder if there is any possible way they can trade Cooley.

Re: Redskins OTAs
As to Cooley, speed was never his thing. I remember when he came out the knock on him was that he was considered to slow to get good separation. If he has slowed down even further, well, that's not good as he will be pretty much a non-factor in the passing game. Even though he is significantly lighter, if Paul can translate his open field WR blocking ability to being able to set the edge as a TE, I can see him replacing Cooley.
Love Captain Chaos - but, if he's got the slows, it just may be the end.

Re: Redskins OTAs
Not sure why, but really hoping Paul is something special at TE.

Re: Redskins OTAs
I think he has the talent to actually surpass Fred Davis. He's already a better blocker and faster.

Re: Redskins OTAs
I didn't say he will, I just said he had the talent to surpass him. Both of what I've said is true. Paul is a better blocker. Paul is faster. That doesn't mean Paul will become a better TE.

But, he has yet to practice one live rep at TE. Being a good blocker against DBs and the occasional LB is one thing. Being an end of the line TE that can set the seal the edge in the running game and sometimes block DEs one-on-one is quite another ball of wax. I'm hopeful for Paul's successful conversion too but imo he's unlikely to ever reach Davis blocking ability on the line much less surpass it. And I doubt that's how they want to use him anyway. |

Re: Redskins OTAs
cooley always had borderline offensive tackle speed. his forte is, and always has been, finding holes in zones and breaking tackles
