Like others have said, he is not a long term plan but he is a HUGE upgrade over Hazlett.
I got no problem with WP. I would count us lucky to get him.
Given that a year from now likely we will be doing the total housecleaning that we should be doing now, no one in the FO is a long-term employee.

Wade Philips is a good choice for a one-year rental.

Kinda amazing folks ready to give up on Jay g already.

I think wade Phillips would be a solid addition. Think he could do a good job with the defense, also could help Jay as a head coach. Wade could offer great support to the staff as a whole.

Why hasn't Phillips coached since the texans? Retirement?

I agree with you about Wade.

And I'm not giving up on Gruden (although I have my doubts) as much as I'm done with anything that involves Bruce Allen, as such things always end in disaster.

Wade would be nice but I agree Ht I'm down with the 4-3 defense now. Screw the 34

If Phillips comes here the 3-4 isn't going away.

True and more to the point we know he knows what a 3-4 needs, and I imagine he would get what he needs

He took some time off to model for the Pillsbury Dough Boy. Can't blame him, really.

no offense, but i guess you don't know WP's defensive plan too well. he uses smaller DTs at nose to shoot the gap, and he uses a 4 man front on 3rd down (moving the OLBs to a DE look). cofield would be a better fit in that system.

also, (not at you htown) - let's be careful about bleacher report articles. they're usually very poorly written/researched and meant to get page views rather than inform. i'm not saying it's all crap, but...

Well no I did not know that, thanks for informing me.if that's the case and we're going to stick with the 3-4 then it seems like Wade would be a good fit.

Yea Wade teaches a 1 Gap technique. We were running a two gap technique woih Haslett but it felt like to me our Dline is built for a 1 Gap.

If we go get Wade. I could see us using our first pick on a Dlineman
