Unfortunately, it's not just week 17, it's anytime/game where he needs to respond to pressure (especially in the red zone).

He had 2 great chances to show that he deserved a new, big contract and threw a horrible INT on one drive and fumbled away the last chance effort.

Not worth a big contract.

Watching Breeland and Fuller yesterday was awesome. Breeland plays like that all year our secondary will be good and his pockets will be fat. Win win.

Re: Ugly week 1 again... Post game thread.

Covering tight ends and making plays on 3rd down are still a WIP. However, run defense was good, and overall the D just seems way better.

I'm not worried about our WRs if healthy. The o-line is very disconcerting though, and Cousins seems to be the exact same. If the o line can't run block and Cousins continues to fold under pressure, we're in for another mediocre season. Where is the fire in the o line? Push some mother effers around!!

For what it's worth, Cooley blamed the dropped Eagles pick at the beginning of the game on Pryor. He said he was suppose to come back to the ball and didn't and left KC out to dry. Grant had the same route on the other side and came back to the ball.

I liked that they threw to Grant, and I like that he caught what was thrown to him. If he becomes a dependable catcher than all the better for our offense. BUT Doctson and Pryor are "supposed" to be our 1/2 punch. Seeing Grant in, means that our offensive players are behind the curve at the start of the season. That is on coaching and front office decisions.

On a similar note, did everyone watch Eli Manning just crumple several times, even before he was hit. Giants fans have to be ready for a change there as well.

They drafted the guy from California. Could happen later this season.

Re: Ugly week 1 again... Post game thread.

There were some very good individual efforts yesterday -- Thompson (only one on offense, as far as I am concerned), Brown (wow), Foster, Bree, Fuller, and Norman (Jeffries was a non-factor) -- but in the main, it was an uninspired and completely unimaginative performance by the team and coaches. And in a home opening against a division rival that we have owned for the last few years? There's simply no excuse for it.

The play-calling was awful. I am sure I am not alone in saying that I predicted about 75% of what we ended up running, and I have to believe if I can do so, then Jim Schwartz (or any D coordinator) surely could do so with probably near perfect accuracy. At the outset of the game, my buddy said, "Watch them go deep to Pryor on the first play but overthrow him." Bingo. It was like that all day. Honestly, I am going to make that into a drinking game, except I will drink only when I get it wrong, lest I be tanked well before halftime.

I have been a fan of Gruden, but does anyone think that a team coached by Parcells, Cowher, or Jon Gruden -- just to use a few examples -- would have let their team start the season like that? It's so damn frustrating. They had damn well better show up to play next week in LA. I don't care that it's a cross country trip -- I know that no one would excuse my performance at work when I am traveling. Man the F up and do your job.

That was one of the more frustrating experiences I have had since -- oh, since we blew chunks in week 17 last season.

I haven't heard the national media mention one word about that bullshit replay call that ended the game yesterday. what a crock of shit.

I think we could move Trent or TY to LG and help there like last yr against BAL I believe... Yesterday though, it was more Moses getting owned, now I know they have a good pass rush but cmon man, Kirk at times had no time at all.

No disagreement here. I am not sure what they should do about the O-line. But I think they have to do something -- the definition of insanity is trying the same thing and expecting a different result. The Eagles are stout up front (and well, coached, I hate to say), but there are a few D lines that will challenges us as they did -- LAR, Giants (2X), Seattle, and Chiefs come to mind. They need to figure it out, and fast.

I just don't see them moving possibly the best LT in football to G. That's just not normal. I'd like to see Long at LG and Chase at C 1st before even thinking about moving Trent. But something different definitely needs to be tried. And the 5 that do play need to be way more intense.

Complete front office mismanagement not to cut Luavo and sign a better LG this offseason. There were 5-6 better options out there and we did nothing. Terrible management

Right -- and to be clear, when I said no disagreement, I was not referring to moving Trent away from being the LT, but to the comment re: Cousins' performance. But I do think they have to consider doing something with the O-line, and if Chase seems ready to take the reins at C, then sliding Long to LG makes good sense. I think folks had assumed that this might happen eventually, but perhaps poor play hastens this process.

Re: Ugly week 1 again... Post game thread.

Its hard to find a unit on the team that performed well, except maybe corners.

I picked the skins at 5-11 this year, but i'll still give them another game or two to get things figured out. They have way too many roster, coaching, management issues to really be successful.
