Re: What do you want to see in our next QB?
Play Haskins - if he does well and we want to move on it will increase his trade value. Smith is not the future and no way are we taking the division,,,

I think I like Z Wilson better than Trey Lance but am good with either one. What do you think of Trask from FL?

He's really coming up as well, I'd say he could be a late 1

Re: What do you want to see in our next QB?
I'm kinda in agreement here, what are the chances of 2 NDSU QB's making it big in the NFL? I just don't see it. I'd go Z Wilson

I mean he put up good numbers, but I'd much rather take a chance on someone with a larger sample size. |

Re: What do you want to see in our next QB?
We need a QB who is an efficient passer, can make long passes. But the most important quality the QB needs is to be a RUN THREAT and can EXTEND THE PASS plays with their FEET. The era of the pocket passer is over. The best QBs in the NFL all can run, can extend the plays and are great passers. That’s what we need.
No retreads or old QB next year. Draft the best QB available and then pick OL, WR and TE to help the offense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree. Bring Haskins in to finish out the season. There are three possible outcomes: 1. He surprises everyone, lights his hair on fire and PLAYS GREAT - proving that he can be our future franchise QB. 2. He plays both good and bad, which means he will be traded in the off-season, but for MORE WE than we will get NOW. 3. He sucks and we get about what we will get right now for a trade - a fifth round draft pick or worse. Playing Alex Smith MIGHT win us an extra game or two, but he is not our future and I doubt he will even stay here next year as a backup QB, making QB #2 salary. Smith may help us develop Cam or Steve Smith further but he is not good enough to win this division. Play Haskins to make him worth more with a trade in the off-season.

Re: What do you want to see in our next QB?
A Smith is the starting QB until the team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Then and only then will we see another QB under center, and even then, that is a maybe. The only thing that changes this is if A Smith gets hurt.

Exactly, and that's how it should be.

Re: What do you want to see in our next QB?
I agree with Warthog in principle but I also see the argument to playing Smith (better chance at winning games right now) until we're eliminated at least. While I don't hold out much hope of winning the division, the only way we make the playoffs, it is a possibility and you don't just turn your back on that possibility until it cases to exist.

Not sure where we’ll be picking yet, but I think he’ll be taken fairly early.
