Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
Doesn't add up to me. I'm not sure how you can be ranked 28th in the league in yards per carry and 29th in sacks allowed, but still have the 6th best O-line.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
Ok. Well I would surmise then, that the RB and QB positions must be graded terribly if the O-line is that good, but the passing game/running game are so bad.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
Wow we really did give up the second most sacks at 50 sacks. Thats surprising.
O line is hard to grade imo. I thought the left side would be an absolute turnstile that would handicap any offense we try to run leading to a 4-12 season. The expectations were very low for them. They definitely, each one of them, played above expectation. Scherff and Moses played through pain a lot. Lucas as well. Roullier is steady eddie. Wes Martin disappointed and Schweitzer took advantage. Run game = they didnt create huge holes or push their men back much. Pass pro = they didnt seem to get beat immediately off the snap and while not great, managed to identify and slow down rushers. They werent a top 10 unit imo but they werent bottom 10 which is what I expected. ---------------------------------- The Washington Football Team signed Chase Roullier to a new four-year contract Saturday, keeping the anchor of its offensive line under contract through 2024. The deal is worth $40.5 million with $19 million guaranteed, according to a person with knowledge of the contract, which makes him the NFL’s 10th-highest-paid center by average annual value, according to OverTheCap.com. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...on-washington/ 10th highest paid center ... sounds about right. Kinda eye opening to see a center get 10M per but I guess thats the going rate. Good for Roullier. Great draft pick. |

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
Remember, we didn't have our current starting 5 to start the season. That probably put us in a big hole in regards to the rankings.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
That's true, but even recently the offense sucks. I'm glad to know that it is apparently not on the O-line. QB / RB / WR need to step it up big time this week.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
We started with Christian and Martin on the left side and it wasn't pretty. Oline play drastically improved with Lucas and Schweizer took over. I don't recall how many games they played before being replaced. Enough to bring the whole line down to start the year.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
When looking at OL performance also worth looking at per player performance and play calling. McKissick and Gibson both averaged 4+ yards per carry but Barber was bad at 2.7. That brought the average down across the board, and to some extent the QB's did too. Average pass play was 6.3 yards. And then figure in play calling and execution where we hit very few big plays. OL largely did their job well so I'd argue better QB play, play calling and execution in the passing game in particular would make the OL rating make more sense.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
Maybe the number of sacks allowed were due to Haskins holding the ball, Smith limited mobility, injuries on the line.
