Re: Name Reveal 2.2.22

https://www.wtvr.com/sports/washingt...hat-it-wont-be

Washington’s NFL team announced Tuesday it will unveil its new name on Feb. 2 and that it will not be the Wolves or RedWolves.

Commanders, Admirals, Armada, Brigade, Sentinels, Defenders, Red Hogs, Presidents and the status quo “Washington Football Team” were among the other finalists.

If this article is correct, looks like it will be one of the options from the 2nd paragraph.

Of the names remaining on this list, Admirals is the only one that I think is decent. The others just don't do it for me, although it would be a little weird considering that we had a General Washington but not an Admiral Washington. Maybe the new stadium will be in Annapolis. In fact, Washington was going to be in the Navy -- the British Royal Navy -- when he was younger but it didn't happen. https://warontherocks.com/2019/01/ev...aritime-world/ Admirals wouldn't seem to make a lot of sense. Generals or Commanders would appear to be more historically accurate. If that matters at all.

As I am sitting here with my dog, I confess I am disappointed about Wolves or Red Wolves -- canines rock. Ah well.

I don't mind Admirals i just don't envision DC as a Naval town. Commanders kind of covers all aspects of the military where admiral is specific to the Navy.

Annapolis Admirals would be killer where as the Lexington Midshipman is a bit confusing. If you follow me.

Re: Name Reveal 2.2.22

Now that Snyder bought out the minority owners (with a loan from the NFL) .. why cant he just say "screw it, I change my mind .. we're going by 'Skins, suck my little tiny dick."

There are no good names. Ive spent many hours researching and trying to think of a cool name and there is nothing that works for Washington ... except for Warriors.

There is no good name. It doesnt exist. The internet is an ingenious place and they have come up with nothing.

Commanders .. Defenders .... they all miss the mark.

A better man, a man with more class and respect, might have been able to hold firm. Such a man would have bought out the other guy and then gone before the cameras and soberly stated, "Our team name has absolutely nothing to do with an innocent man being killed by a rogue cop. And shame on anyone who seeks to exploit the murder of an innocent to engage in juvenile political theatrics."

But ...Snyder is not that man and never could be.

Wright acknowledged a large number of fans were in the Wolves camp. I think it was a clear minority that weren't.

I hear you, but once again everyone seems to forget the pairing of teams that used to be common.

The Arizona Cardinals used to be the St Louis Cardinals and shared the name and stadium with the baseball team of the same name. Just as the NY Giants (nka SF Giants and NY Giants) did. Just as the Boston Braves (nka WFT and Atlanta Braves) did as well.

Obviously there was some kind of agreement between the two and that has carried over to Arizona as well as San Francisco.

You raise a good point, but the example is not accurate. But since you raised it, I will repeat that a nice move would have been us becoming the Washington Nationals football team and paired with the Nats. Of course, the Lerners would have never taken Danny's call.

You can use anything you want as long as you're willing to spend some money.
Cleveland Indians/Guardians changed their name to a popular local one overnight.

Snyder probably want's to go with the cheapest option there is.

tbf every name misses the mark, until it doesn't. This team isn't going to be complete until it actually finds success on the field and the fans can get behind it.
