Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Just got home from the game half an hour ago. Crazy awesome, it was unbelievable. I've never heard Fedex that loud, especially on the final drive. My voice was gone but I was still screaming my lungs out, along with every other fan in the joint.
Definitely an ugly win, and some might look at that statement and declare the key word in that is "ugly", but for me the key word in that is "win." And don't even get me started on those burgundy and gold uniforms. Absolutely sexy. I have absolutely no idea why we ever switched to red jersey/white pants combo like we've used before this season. Alls I know is I like it, and I don't want them to go away. |

What was DMacs YPC %.. at one point it was 12 yards per comp. That's not bad IMO

Anyone notice that Mcnabb gets rid of the ball quickly? Not to bash JC cause there is another thread already doing that, but I swear he saved a few sacks last night just by playing faster than JC.

Well CP also saved a whole bunch of sacks. Our interior line is now a bit of an issue. Rabach plainly sucks, he was getting beaten constantly and CP bailed him a couple of times.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
The pocket did collapse several times, but McNabb did a good job of either stepping up and away from the pressure, or sitting tight and keeping his composure. The obvious difference from last year is that the O-line doesn't need to have absolute perfection 100% of the time to be able to compete.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
We were sitting there collectively shaking our heads at the way Rabach was being handed his lunch by Ratliff. We began to give him help at times, but in all fairness, Ratliff is a pro-bowl player and I've seen him do what he did last night to better centers than Rabach. Not excusing Rabach though because in the last couple years he's has simular outings against lesser talents.

Rabach doesn't suck, he just can't block Ratliff one on one. Ratliff has been owning him for years so nothing new there.

It isn't even close. Plus, he doesn't check down on every time a defender is close to him.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I don't know how good the defense of the Cowboys is supposed to be but Portis got absolutely nothing against them. The offensive line still looks old and slow but maybe that is because the cowboys' d-line is stacked.
We were given chance after chance to score that touchdown when one of the Cowboys jumped offsides on that field goal attempt and could not punch it in. Not even that, we f'ed up the field goal so a lot of problems to figure out. Also, absolutely unforgivable how wide-open Miles Austin was on some of the plays, especially the thirty yarder on the 4th and 10. Also Carlos Rogers and Laron Landry dropped back to back interceptions which would have iced the game. Also, this offense was pretty bad given that we managed 6 points over 4 quarters. But you know what? We gave up 7 points to one of the best offenses in the league, made up for it with a defensive touchdown. McNabb looked okay, nothing great, Trent Williams held his own against Ware and didn't give up a sack and we beat the Dallas Cowgirls on opening night. An ugly, ugly win which we should approach, really, as a loss but it's nice to see WAS 13 DAL 7

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Not to mention.... Johnson who got what 1 run?..... totally trucked Ware. lol. Not sure if it was a stinger or concussion but poor Ware. lol.
Supposedly..... Dallas was supposed to have the #1 ranked offense and #1 ranked defense, so I'm not sure what it says about the Skins. Dallas came into this game blind. They had no film to study and practice for. So either Dallas is not as good as everyone thinks they will be, or the Skins are a lot better then everyone thought. I kinda think its somewhere in between. Dallas had a lot of dropped balls, but their #71 killed them with holding calls. We should have had 4 sacks or atleast possible hurried passes which might have led to interceptions. I also think the Refs failed to call a holding call on Armstrong with one of the passes to the endzone which should have given us another 4 downs. Oh well. I thought the score would have been Skins-30 to Dallas-21. I figured the defenses would have had a hard time stopping each others offense but in reality both defenses did pretty solid work and the offenses could not step up. I figured about a 7-9 point difference and it turned out to be 6. As most have said a win is a win. The Texans will be even harder I think. They beat the Colts but I don't think the Colts are very good this yr. If we can pull another win out of our hats (thinking ahead), I can see us beating the Rams and the Eagles. The Eagles looked bad to me. What a nice situation to be in if we could be 4-0. MS just needs to get the offense rolling. |

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I'm loving it too. I'm so used to having to show up at work the next day having to hear from all the Dallas fans rubbing it in, wearing their jerseys. I think they are in shock. Wait do you hear that......... the silence is deafening. :headbange
