Re: 2011 Draft Thread Round 1
Roddy White's initial reaction to the Falcons picking Jones on Twitter:
“Well we got Julio Jones. I’m excited." Roddy White after seeing what the Falcons gave up: “Well, I was wrong. We give up our draft.’’

I noticed though that Quinn isn't that good of a tackler (something RK is) and that he isn't that fluid in his hips to drop into coverage (supposedly he looked worse than RK did when he dropped into coverage at his pro day) plus Kerrigan didn't have the character or health issues that Quinn did, the more and more I look at this pick, the more I like it and the more I'm happy we didn't get Quinn. Now as for day 2, I really really hope we do NOT draft Kaepernick. Any potential of us drafting Bowers? Titus Young? Trading up for Mallett?

Re: 2011 Draft Thread Round 1
Well I mean Quinn was their preference but it wasn't like they were like "Oh crap, Quinn's gone now what do we do"
It was "Let's trade down and get an extra pick because odds are Quinn will be there at 16 with Cleveland and San Fran passing on him. And if he's not there Kerrigan should be there and we're going to have an extra 2nd to work with"

The real argument for Kerrigan over Quinn is production. In 2009 when Quinn last played, Quinn posted 11 sacks. Kerrigan posted 12. Also in 2008 when both were sophomores Kerrigan got 7 sacks to go with his 56 tackles. Quinn on the other hand got only 2 sacks to go with 34 tackles. In the year Quinn was unfairly suspended Kerrigan posted 13 sacks. So at the very least in terms of raw numbers, and not knowing situations, surrounding personel, matchups, opponents, etc Kerrigan had the better numbers. Knowing what I know now though we couldn't really have gone wrong with either. Still both teams picking at 14 and 16 now have great bookends/OLB's. St. Louis with Long and Quinn, and us with Orakpo and Kerrigan.

Re: 2011 Draft Thread Round 1
So just found out Paea is a Nose Tackle in a 3-4. Unless Dalton is there I want Paea at 41.

Re: 2011 Draft Thread Round 1
Another fun moment from tonight, well I'm not sure I'd call it "fun" per se, getting practically run over by Mike Pouncey's buddies as they find out he's talking to the Dolphins "Mike's on the phone! Mike's on the phone! He's on the phone! He's on the phone! He's on the phone! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! He's on the phone!"...bullrush backstage

I really like Hankerson, who I think may turn out to be better than Julio Jones, but I would prefer that the Skins take linemen in Round 2. I don't know enough about Paea to have an opinion. No to Stanzi in the second round. I don't think he's an NFL QB. |

Dalton or Mallet @ 41, trade down or get Hankerson or Greg Little at WR

Re: 2011 Draft Thread Round 1
SMOOT - On NFLN they showed a shot of one lone Skins fan in the seats, wearing a burgundy Portis jersey.
My life laughed and said "Look, we only have one fan there!" WAS THAT YOU? ---------------- My thoughts: Titans taking Locker that early...stupid but I was excited that they saved us from being stupid. Then, I was nervous we'd take Gabbert, not a fan. THANK YOU JAGS! GREAT TRADE FOR US! 2 second-rounders will be very beneficial. Kerrigan was a solid pick for us. We should be able to play OLB fine. I watched his highlight vid and checked his sack/forced fumble stats...IMPRESSIVE. I'm excited to see him and 'Rak attacking QBs from both sides. We're going to be a D with a ton of sacks and TOs. NOW...Get DALTON with one of the picks, preferably #41. Then go for the best available O-Lineman, Hankerson (WR-Miami) or a CB, maybe the kid from Miami. I thiik we have a great shot at Kris Jenkins in FA to address the middle of our D-line, so use the draft for more pressing needs.

They were thinking that they are just one big-time player away from the big dance.

LOL. No, not me. I didn't wear any Redskin gear. I did see some dude in Portis gear, another in a Smoot jersey, another wearing Taylor #36.
