Well, the 3rd rounder is just my guess. I have no idea what he'll be tendered at. But considering what some guys like Whitehurst (for example) went through, 3rd rounder is not that much.

Plus. Hoyer hasn't failed in the regular season as Beck has. So, that's one advantage. The positive power of the unknown. Also, he's only 26 years old.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

Funny thing about the NFL is it's such a copycat league. Last year the Packers won with Godgers, so all the buzz was about getting a demi-god at QB. Now this year with the Giants winning I'm feeling like we need to get a great supporting cast and a QB that can be elite in crunch time, even if he's average to above-average most of the time.

Better yet Hoyer could become another Matt Schuab. People should keep in mind that a lot of Schuabs value was built up in the preseason.

What I find semi-amusing though is people talk all the time about bringing in someone like Peyton Manning and having someone learn from him so they can have a chance to study one of the best in the game. What about sitting behind Tom Brady? Doesn't that count for something?

Well, Beck would look good in New England. Had Hoyer been in any of those games that Beck played and we'd be saying the same thing. He's garbage.

And if they don't view him as a franchise caliber QB they can't turn around and expect premium compensation for him.

If they draft RGIII its certainly a negative on his value.
To be clear I still think Bradford is a franchise caliber QB and I don't think they'll draft RGIII and try to trade Bradford.
I hear what your saying but I don't really agree. I wouldn't mind the Redskins trying to make that case to get a better deal for Bradford though.

That's because Bill Belichick is the devil and that's how the Pats win games :FIREdevil

On a serious note, although I know injury is a factor but so far Cassell has done a better job in his first year compared to Kolb's first year. I think my problem with Hoyer is giving up picks once again. I'd rather give up picks to get Luck or RG3.

If we get Payton I think we will trade down.

I personally think unless someone like RGIII falls to us or they really like Blackmon, we'll end up trading down.

What are we going to do with a dead HoFer?

If Peyton Manning is healthy and can be signed as a free agent, I'd consider it, but if we have to give up draft picks, no thank you. I'm also not interested in Weedon, it would be Chris Weinke all over again. If we're gonna have to give up picks for a qb, go all in and get Luck.

I don't see why they wouldn't like Blackmon.

He seems to play like a combination of TO and Brandon Marshall. Big body and makes yards after the catch. If we can't get one of Luck or RGIII, I'd be just fine with Blackmon.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

I think if we don't sign a QB in FA we will pick Weeden, If we sign a FA QB we will be going after Luck, RGIII, Bradford, Tannehill or etc. in the draft. I like Weeden but he would be older than most FA. Weeden makes sense if he starts right away IMO.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

So, during a Joe Theismann interview today, the Lebatard Show reported that we'll be signing Peyton Manning once he's released. They cited a source, so I did a search but could only find this: Peyton Manning May Want To Play For Redskins If Released | SI Tracking Blog – Tracking the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA On Twitter

They asked Joe Theismann his thoughts, and he was pretty upset and surprised the Skins hadn't learned anything from the McNabb debacle. He feels it's time to draft a QB and groom him to be our guy. I agree.

I think it's time to get a young QB be it ours or someone else's IMO.

Joey T is a dumbass. It's not like they would be trading for him, and there is nothing that says they wouldn't draft a rookie QB even if they did bring him in. In fact, I'm quite certain that if he is brought in, expect a rookie QB to be drafted as well.

If Blackmon, Kalil, RG3, and Luck are all gone -- there's no one worth trading UP for at 6 that I can think of, so I think trading out of the slot may be hard.

If Blackmon IS there at 6 (and we dont trade up for a QB) we have to take him. Possible game changer.
