You wouldn't count DH to the Steelers?

He was such a bust here that I actually forget he was even here, and it isn’t like it has been more than a couple damn months. I think I blocked his tenure here completely out of my mind.

I think it's way too early to say anyone is off the table.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

I'm just not a big fan of getting journeymen QBs.. I'd rather just roll with what we have now and add our own Rookie.

Watson and Dak are the exceptions of course but neither will happen

Agreed. Allen/Heinike are basically on a Marriota level imo. Both can run the offense but arent plus players.

Either do a true upgrayedd with a Watson type or just lean on the average at best QBs we have now.

If we can manage to grab Lance / Fields I'd be all in on that. Mariota to me won't make us some legit offense so why trade a 2nd or 3rd for the guy? Plus he's had big time injury concerns...

Heinicke has been injured in every NFL game he has started.

Allen is coming off a bad ankle injury.

Smith falls down when he tries to move out of the pocket.

I don't think we can afford to lean on the QBs currently on the roster. That would be complete negligence and reason for a revolt.

I am leaning this way as well - if they can move up a few spots to grab one of the top 4. Although, I think they should add a QB (2-3 year deal) in free agency first.

Smith is being released.

Allen - I assume we tender him as an ERFA. Cheap no brainer unless his ankle is that bad.

Heinike - injury prone in very small sample size. Still an unknown and Im fighting my inner urge to just dismiss him outright as just not looking like an NFL player bc he did move the ball in that small sample size.

We dont have a starter level Qb and the Qbs we have under contract are injury prone and less than average even if healthy.

Its not an ideal situation. Overpaid vet who cant play anymore and 2 journeyman QBs, coming off injuries, that nobody else wanted.

Solution? name of our week 1 starter? I have no idea but I dont think he is currently on the roster. Lots of things to happen, trades, players cut, maybe a draft move up. Maybe Mac Jones or Trey lance falls?

im excited to be in this position though. good cap position, full load of draft picks. Office full of NFL execs and scouts "all on the same page".

Good time to be a skins fan.

I don't think a 2nd or 3rd are in the discussions about Mariota. His salary being what it is, teams aren't inclined to give up a 2nd or 3rd on top of paying him.
IMO, the question is whether a team offers a 4th or if a 5th will do it.

Yeah, I didn't realize his salary was so prohibitive for LV. I don't think they can afford for him to come back to be honest, and if Carr gets hurt they could end up paying him at an even higher premium.

They'll probably end up taking a later round pick for him or just releasing him and promoting Peterman.

The smart move to me would be for them to take what they can get sooner rather than later, before teams begin to fill their needs with other options.

Yeah the Raiders don't have any leverage with Mariota. I'd offer up a 5th right now. I kind of scoffed at the thought initially, but now I think he could be an intriguing fit in this offense. A more athletic Kyle Allen basically.
