As your running you have to time the jump point with the trajectory of the ball. Try doing this when the ball is in the air and you have to find it with a defender covering you. Not to mention, speaking from experience, when you land chances are your elbow hits first which drives your shoulder up into the socket or you have a decent chance of knocking the wind out of you if you land low on the chest.

Again, if you criticize a receiver for purposefully diving to make a catch with a defender on him, you more than likely have never done it yourself to have made that statement.
AKA it was a nice catch.

Good post.

I was just about to post the same thing. We have to be REALLY bored to criticize a diving catch in a preseason game.

I agree. If some jackass 49er fan wants to criticize him because they have no one on their team of that calibre that is one thing. It is a whole different ballgame if a 'Skins fan starts nitpicking him on a truly outstanding play. This is pissing me off.

Trust me, we are going to have bigger issues to bitch about than a wideout making a pro-bowl catch.

Re: B Lloyd - I'm starting to despise this worthless piece of trash

bryant has been let go from more than one team now. he's worse in the locker room than lloyd. Also trying to catch passes from various D list QBs for a 2-14 type team that's making very minimal efforts to improve has to wear on guys.

we'll see how it works out. so far he's been fine. Meanwhile I wouldn't get too high on bryant as the savoir of the 49ers. he's only a #1 WR on bad teams.

and to matty - last year the word on moss was he ran out of bounds and was afraid to take a hit or go over the middle (which it turns out, he was actually very willing to do for J J Gibbs), but everyone also said he was a good team guy, great work ethic, etc etc. There wasn't nearly as much hate as i've seen for lloyd on 49ers boards.

Did Brandon Lloyd hit your cat with his car or something?

A) You're a TOTAL dork for caring enough to come back and check on this. Seriously, I think that Brandon Lloyd must have used you, then not called you the next morning.

B) He's caught EVERYTHING thrown his way. We can't control whether he gets his number called for the play. You can thank our QB or offensive coordinator for that. But man, Lloyd must have really hurt your feelings.

I am a dork? Ouch. You cut me deep man.

How do you know what Saunders called? So far Lloyd hasn't produced anything and I was just showing those who said Lloyd> Any other 49ers WR how wrong they were.

Wow. And I thought you'd be off a SKINS board late night. How wrong I was. If you knew anything about the Skins, you'd know that last year, regardless of if they had Jerry Rice in his prime or ANYONE, Brunell only threw to Santana Moss. Hell, I bet if you looked at the yards for a lot of those guys you posted, they're probably more than any of the Skins receivers.

And yes, you're a total toolbox for seriously touching yourself over stats of a former football player. If at the end of the season, we were to tell you that you were right, would it make you feel awesome? I hope so. It's just football man, let it go.
