Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday
Just an observation, but with all the screaming for JC, is Gibbs now at fault for making the change?

Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday
starting a QB who's never had a regular season snap? absolutely it's out of desperation. desperation your boy was a major part of.

Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday
He is absolutely NOT at fault for making the switch now. This decision is a few weeks too late if anything. The season is all but lost. How sick will it make all of us if Campbell comes in a provides the spark we've been looking for?? I mean, I'll be ecstatic if he performs well, but sick the change wasn't made earlier. We'll drive ourselves nuts with "what if's" for the remainder of the year and beyond.

With all due respect...you sir are Delooooooosional (best Lewis Black imitation) if you thought MB was going to "stick it" to Tampa. The season was also over in August when it was obvious that our offense couldn't learn the playbook in the preseason and the defense starting looking like swiss cheese. BTW, just because no one agrees with you doesn't mean you have to turn into a sourpuss and start poopin' on everyone else faint glimmer of hope that this year can turn into something positive. Just as you desperately clung to any remote iota of positive play from MB all season, I expect you to give JC the same benefit of the doubt. |

Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday
WHOOOO! Just saw the news. About time. Even if he struggles--and remember, even good NFL QBs struggle early (with a few Bradly-like exceptions)--this is the right move, to find out what he's got and to move towards the future!
Oh, AND SBF is back? The worm has turned! GO SKINS! GO JC!

Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday
Yeah I don't think so either.
Who's to say he was ready to go earlier in the season? I think they wanted to hold out on this move as long as possible. |

Finally. Something to give us hope for the future. Let's hope he brings the answers we all want.

Eventually the move was going to be made, and although now probably wasnt the best week for it, Gibbs to an extent probably folded under the pressure from the fans on this one. In the end...it probably won't matter whether the move was made this week or next week. But that doesn't mean it was a good time for it. Campbell will likely struggle in all 7 of his starts this season. We won't move the ball at all before CP comes back. It's gonna get real ugly, real fast. But in the end, Campbell will improve over the offseason and lets see if we cant make a push in 2007. Here's to a new era and hail to the redskins!

Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday
I'm sooo glad this switch has been made. As a Florida Gator fan living in Florida, I got to see plenty of JC at Auburn, and he's damn good. Nice feet, rocket arm, awesome size, low on turnovers, the list goes on... But he has probably taken a little longer to pick up on things becuase, including college, he is on his 6th offensive coordinator in 6 years. Kind of hard to get in a groove with all that constant change in systems.
That said, I'd really like to see some threads discussing how straight up pathetic our defense has become in all facets. Tackling, pass rush, pass d, sacks, ints, all just plain pathetic. Our D is what we're supposed to hang our hat on. Gregg Williams needs to step up and take some responsibility. |

"He won't move the ball at all before CP comes back." I think those words might haunt you. I think that unlike Brunell, he'll throw a lot of picks, but he'll also actually move the ball. |

I gotta disagree. Portis is awesome for sure, but Betts is a starting caliber running back, and although Rock doesn't play much, he's always pretty darn good when he's in on offense. And maybe now we'll see why we traded (yet again) a high draft pick for Duckett. And with the speed we have at receiver, we need an arm like JC's to get vertical with passing game. |

You can't solve all your teams problems with a QB change, espicially when the QB wasn't the issue. Here's a list of guys who have had worse seasons than MB: Jon Jansen Al Saunders Derrick Dockery Chris Cooley (my favorite Redskin) Christian Fauria Gregg Williams Adam Archuleta Sean Taylor Carlos Rogers (I think he will improve drastically in the 2nd half of the year) Warrick Holdman Lemar Marshall (my 2nd favorite Redskin) Marcus Washington Andre Carter Phillip Daniels Good, now that we have Brunell out of the way, what are we going to do with those guys? And who is going to be Campbell's replacement when he doesnt throw 4 TDs this week? According to advanced statistics Brunell is personally responsible for 36.6 points this season (4.1 DPAR/G) (above replacement, or a guy responsible for exactly 0, and yes you can be below replacement level). Until further proof, Campbell would fall at the replacement QB range (0 DPAR/G). In his prime, Campbell is projected to produce 6.1 DPAR/G. That means Campbell at his prime would be responsible for 55.0 points this season up until this point. But he's got a ways to go to make his projection so you are almost certainly taking a hit in the present. So in the present, I would expect our average pts/game to decrease by 4 for the rest of the year, slowly increasing as JC gets expierence.
