Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)

jimmy williams? he didn't exactly shut anyone down. the guy we should have taken was richard marshall (NFL.com - Richard Marshall).

he was there for our #53 pick, he had a great year, and he's the guy i wanted for value at that spot well beforehand too. hell, he picked campbell off twice in the one game he played against the skins this year (even though one got overturned due to a BS roughing call, but i can't complain about that).

True. I do agree, but Marshall was forced into action with an injury to the secondary and then sub-par play of Ken Lucas made it easier for John Fox. We could have used either of those guys. But Jimmy can play both FS and CB! He did at V Tech and was a beast at both. We will see soon how he and Deangelo begin to shut ish down in ATL!

The main problem with this deal as it is outlined is dropping down to #25 is too far of a drop and using the NFL points chart it doesn't add up. The Jets would definitely have to sweeten the deal a bit more.

I would take the deal if the Jets sweetened the deal with another quality pick.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

Unless we think that we can get another solid DT or DE with a later pick in the first round, or with a high second round pick, I really think we need to keep the 6th pick to address the DL.

If we get a solid defensive lineman, then I think whoever is playing linebacker will be better. In fact, I still believe that Lemar Marshall can produce for us if his shoulder injury isn't nagging him all season. He had a good season for us in 2005, and I believe he can return to that form next season, especially if we can get a guy like Branch to clog up some holes.

In addition, although Vilma is attractive, I do not think we should go after him for the reasons I just stated. However, I also do not think that we should go after him because we're getting rid of a guy who WANTS to be a Redskin. Ladell knew that he could leave the Skins and go start for another team, but he is choosing to stay with us. He's passing up a big pay day for back up money, cause he wants to be a part of this team. After the season that he had last year, I think trading him will cause more friction between the front office/coaching staff and the players. Portis always speaks so highly of Betts, and while Vilma is a stud, I think it's more important that we start showing the rest of the team that we're willing to take care of our own, and award them when they play well.

I agree completely. As much as I like Vilma, the DL is more important, and to upgrade it, we really need a top 12 pick.

this would be a really boneheaded move without an extra pick...6th for a 26th??????

or kick coverage and returns were not the worst in the league from what i could tell. care to point me to where you got that info? we have bigger needs and anyone short of devin hester really isn't going to be a noticeable upgrade.

I can testify for the wizards story. i sit on the floor and walk into George Michaels all the time. not to mention the numerous skins and larry michaels, who are regulars during the season. This guy really does work there, they walk around with signs tryin to amp up the crowd. i even caught a burrito last year. I believe his story. seeing what happens at half time in the vip club with all the celebrities, athletes, politicians, etc., this would not be out of normal. ive heard more rediculous down there talking to people

Rock had a great year returning kicks... we have too many other needs to put KR anywhere near the top of our list.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

The team would go into turmoil if Ladell Betts was traded?

Please. That's just ridiculous.

Here's a guy that most everyone was ready to run out of town a year ago, all of a sudden he's the glue that holds this locker room together?

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

Simple question, who would you take straight up?

Betts (2nd string RB) or Vilma (starting MLB and one of the best at his position)?
