well, danny doesn't like letting people go, and his trend is to keep guys from leaving, but we'll see what happens. as long as its a fair or value signing, i'd be happy with it.

if he's getting 6mill a year though, well... yeah...

If HE gets 6mil per year I will snipe Danny myself.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett

Hackett supposedly is supposed to Tour redskins park today...but he is also supposed to meet with the Bucs today and then with the panthers tommorrow.
That looks like a pretty tight schedule for today....hopefully...if you're a Hackett fan.
The move to bring him to Redskins Park is a stall tactic to delay/eliminate trips to tampa.
Of course....it only takes a couple hours to fly to tampa.

I really think if we get a deal done, 80% chance is it will be today.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett

I agree with you guys....pretty much between the skins and tampa....
I dont see Carolina as a "playoff contender with a good qb"

In my opinion, if we dont get him today, Tampa will get it done.
And.....no way this guy gets a 10 mil signing bonus.

Hopefully we offer him something like 4 year 12 mil with a 3.5 Mil signing bonus....with a bunch of performance stuff to assure his injury potential doesn't haunt us.

Is this a reasonable amount for this guy?
Am I far off on his value?
Opinions?

Looks like he left for Tampa earlier this afternoon.

Hackett Visits Redskins Park

I'd like to see us get something done with him, but it appears we're not "breaking the bank" for him (which is a good thing). Hopefully he and Skins have a gentleman's agreement to give the Skins an opportunity to match any offer he gets from Tampa.

In the link, third paragraph, it mentions "Hackett departed Redskins Park on Thursday afternoon. He was expected to travel to Tampa Bay to visit with the Buccaneers..."

Only if he liked the vibe he got from VC and DS. If we aren't throwing money at FAs anymore (which I like), it will be interesting to see where we really stand in the eyes of FAs.

According to PFT, Hackett got an offer from the Redskins, rejected it, and moved onto Tampa Bay.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett

Remeber, Randel El signed a 7 year 31 Million deal with 11 Million in signing bonuses over the life of the deal....thats more than 4 mil a year for a guy the Skins thought would be a legitamate #2 with no injury risk + special teams ability.

I'm thinking this guy could make as much as 5 mill a year but 3.5 would be more likely...
I dont know if I want him for more than 3 or 3.5/yr

I'm not even sure that we fired up Redskins1 for Hackett.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett

*I* was not very optomistic about signing Hackett because it wasn't likely he was going to receive a max offer, and the team is not desperate for his services. Since we do have other options, him rejecting the teams offer is no big deal.

I like the approach, they offered him a deal they felt comfortable with, he rejected it so we move on. We're not begging, other opportunities will present themselves.

I like our approach also. It is nice to see us actually negotiating rather than immediately giving away the farm. I think we still have at least a 50/50 shot to get Hackett.
