What's the deal with him...I remember a few years ago he was supposed to be a good kicker coming out of college (OSU I believe).

"Cat Scratch Fever" Nugent played for the Jets until he was hurt in the first game of last year and released. He had a cameo appearance with Tampa earlier this year.

Re: Better kickers available?

Obviously people think that those of us who want to cut Suish are just having a shock reaction to him missing a 23 yarder. But we've had him for 3 seasons now and he keeps proving time and time again that he can't make it when it matters. Remember the shank he had in our playoff game against Seattle? Remember all the other shanks he's had with some amount of pressure on him? Remember the Dallas game two weeks ago? This wasn't a one time occurence, I knew if anybody could miss a 23 yard field goal with the game on the line that it would be Suish, and he proved me right. I don't care if we keep him for the rest of the season but he needs to be cut after the season is over.

I will never know why they kept Suisham instead of trying to go out and get a kicker with "The Leg"....i think we need a guy who, like other kickers in the NFL, can come in and make a 50 yarder when needed....

Re: Better kickers available?

It absolutely hilarious we are bringing in kickers. Szab this morning said it best driving into work, very typical knee jerk reaction by the FO and most likely initiated by the owner. As die hard fans we call for the kickers head after a couple bad games and look to him to put this Saints loss squarely on him...when we had Landry give up 14 pts, Moore lose a fumble that went the other way, and a coach/bingo caller who is 3-8 this season run it 3 straight time in the 10 yard line when JC is playing his best game of the season and could put the game away...but Snyder who people state shouldnt listen to the fans is acting exactly like a fan and is going to cut a kicker (who sux dont get me wrong) but is our best option at this point in the season.....its really hilarious, still doesnt beat the knee jerk 2nd round pick for Taylor

It's a lot easier to find a mediocre kicker than it is to cut someone that you spent a high 1st round draft pick on.

I hear ya, but I dont want anybody cut at this point. It will make no impact and pointing the finger at the kicker solely for this loss is funny. People talk about accountability all of a sudden...cut the people who created this 3-9, hitting-the-bottom team of poor losses to the Lions among others...why start at the kicker? Lets get to real problem: 1. Vinny 2. Zorn both gone, that will make the statement to the team. Install Gray at head coach and promote someone to whatever BS title he holds now which essentially is "YES MAN." Yeah cut the kicker...Wooooooooooooow...very predictable

If one of these young guys works out we have him before anybody sticking with their kicker for the year does, depending on the contract. If you figure Suisham to be cut after the year you might as well bring someone in that you may carry into next year.

-Players are often brought in for tryouts on Tuesdays, still it's not knee-jerk to bring in kickers to try out after ours just missed yet another key field goal

-Zorn calls the plays inside the red zone. And I think Lewis has done enough in his career and this past month to stop being dismissed as a bingo caller

-Freak play on the Moore fumble. To his credit, he did what few defensive backs have done for the Redskins...intercept the ball

Re: Better kickers available?

I can't call bringing in kickers "kneejerk" when guys like Dungy have gone on record saying the would have cut Suisham right after the game.

I don't think Suisham will get cut, this is a wake up call more than anything. We've done this to him before and he's responded.

Yes, but HOW MANY TIMES have we been forced to makes trheats against his job? Far too often. He's lost 2 of the last 3 games for us. This is not the first time in his career that he's gone on these shanking sprees. I wanted him gone for a reason after last season and we've failed to upgrade a key position once again and are now in the "it's too late" phase with yet another part of the team, much like the o-line.
