re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
It's alright, I think Waldskins response was more of a response to Redskin37 then it was to me.

At this point I wouldn't get too worked up over Peppers. We're not high on his list and he's not high on ours. If we did sign him, it would mean that other options fell through for both sides.

What are our "other options" for Peppers, Great Wise One?

Though it is worth pointing out that he's named after Juilus Erving and Walt Fraizer, hence his name Juilus Fraizer Peppers.

New England has interest in him. Okay...now I'll turn it over to the Great Wise One.

Sorry. I meant, "If we aren't looking foremost at Peppers, who are we looking at for our new 3-4 look?" That was my question for the Great Wise One.

I think if he focused on basketball he could have been a star. Now on the making 10 times more in the NFL. Have you seen NBA contracts? There are role players making 10 million a year. There are guys who barely leave the bench who make 5. His longevity is impressive but typically an NBA career is much longer than an NFL career. |

I am going to assume the guys we are 'high"on are Dansby, Dunta R., and Sproles out of the top guys available.
Hoping Ryan Clark is on that list as well. Now I have no clue as to what the FO is going to do about the offense yet.

JJ Redick is a cry baby and players from Duke (short of Grant Hill) are overrated. I loved that interview when he actually cried about the MD fans harassing his sister. somehow they got her phone number. |

Unless he became a starter then Peppers would most likely have been making one or two million a year and been out of the league within 5 years. Sure maybe he could have gotten up to $5 million but for how long? Also keep in mind that you're talking about a league that doesn't take very kindly to power forwards uner 6'8. Elton Brand is the only guy I can think of that made it as a short power forward. In the NBA height is extremely important. Quote:

That's encouraging...signing Peppers would be just like old time. The bad old times.
