I say fad. Every time I have tested one at the store I am like ok am I missing something?

I definitely feel for my living room, I could use at least a 40 inch TV, but probably nothing past that.
No doubt, getting a TV that properly suits your space is critical.

3D TV is a stupid fad. Frankly, I don't know who in their right mind would want to watch anything in 3D but once in a blue moon.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help

I think when it's time for me to purchase another TV, I'm just going to stick with a 1080p (because they have went down in price and I want to see the full benefit of blu-ray) and just look for the refresh rates.

i used to think the same thing but some of the technology is pretty friggin sick man. 63" Class 1080p 3D Plasma TV 8000 Series | Samsung PN63C8000 - Plasma TVs thats the one i just bought, i don't have 3d glasses and don't plan on buyin any any time soon(the legit ones are over $100 btw) but the actually 3d picture is pretty cool. the reason i got this one wasn't even really because of the 3d it was basically because it was the biggest and baddest picture available, along with the new panosonic but that one only went up to 55 i think. but this tv has wifi and a ton of awsome apps. it even comes with windows media player installed on it. when we got back from costa rica we had people over and stuck in a thumb drive and just played a slide show of all the pictures then went to youtube and watched the videos from ziplining, i love this tv.

fd did you ever get you hd hooked up yet? watching football in hd in my own house for the first time was one of the greatest days of my life. and golf is amazing in hd as well. since i got my new tv the best sporting event to watch is hockey the picture is amazing.

and as far as blu ray's go the difference from 720 to 1080 might not be much on a 30 inch tv but on a 63 it's a pretty noticable difference.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help

Well I got to watch my first football game on my new TV with the HD working and VT kicked FL ST ass. This was after spending the evening fishing in the snow which was a first for me. We ate fish bites while watching the game. Nothing better then fish so fresh it flips its self.
