Re: Report: Peyton Manning Needs 2nd Neck Surgery

I don't know...I'm sure he could come back and suit up but does he really want to put his body though that at 37? Three surgeries?

I'm not writing Manning off, but the thing that made Brett Favre so special was he rarely (if ever) "went under" the knife. Even though his body was falling apart, it seemed to have the ability to heal itself and be ready by gameday.

Re: Report: Peyton Manning Needs 2nd Neck Surgery

isnt this his 4th surgery overall? not just his neck, but didnt he have a knee issue as well once? This doesnt bode well for the Colts at all. Unless your looking at it from the viewpoint that if they really stink it up this year, are able to pull Andrew Luck next year, and give him one or two seasons under Manning, possibly the best quarterback who has ever strapped on a helmet.

Damn, I will physically get sick and blow chunks all over the nearest Cowgirls fan should that happen.

Isn't the proper expression "went under" the knife? Underwent?.................lol

Indianapolis Colts' Peyton Manning has more surgery on neck - ESPN

Apparently the dude from the radio station was spot on with his breaking news. Manning is going under the knife again.

Wow, a scenario just occurred to me.
Most "experts" think the Colts are a playoff team with a healthy Peyton at the helm.
These same experts also say without Peytonm the Colts are a 3-13 team.

What would happen in Indy if they end up with the top pick and the 2012 draft and Oliver Luck can be drafted by them? Do you draft an Oliver Luck with a Peyton Manning (with a fresh new contract I might add) on your roster?

Oooh, that sounds like a scenario that hasn't been thought of already. But IMO, yes, yes you would draft "Oliver" Luck, because Peyton's not getting any younger.

you mean you read the post 4 before yours, but yea it would be pretty unreal if that were to happen, and could be very likely if manning misses the whole year

I don't know if I would draft Oliver Luck but I would draft his son Andrew who plays at Stanford. Even if I already had Manning. Given Manning's health issues, especially if I had Manning.

2-3 months is the word right now.
At this point, why risk those last few weeks in the season over a serious injury such as a nerve/spine? They should just IR him and shut it down for the season. Get a better draft pick and start thinking about next year.

Re: Report: Peyton Manning Needs 2nd Neck Surgery

I think Manning will go on IR once they get eliminated from playoff contention, which will probably be around the time he's supposed to come back. Unless I'm wrong of course and the team sucks ass without Peyton, and they're like 2-10 by week 13.

Re: Report: Peyton Manning Needs 2nd Neck Surgery

It can make some sense financially as well with the new rookie pay scale.

The thing about next years draft is that will be the first with the new CBA in place. Trades on draft day for the first 5 picks may actually occur again. The picks would be costly to move up and get as far as compensation from the team moving up, but the financial impact will not be as much as to prior years drafts. This may make the trades more appealing to teams.

If they are hovering around .500 I bet he comes back. Best case he could be back by midseason. I wouldn't write him off yet.

Big problem for this team is the age of a lot of star players. They had a small window to begin with, take a year away and it's damn near shut.
