5 year deal but essentially 2 years, 10.7 million, with 5.2 guaranteed per JLC and others

Oh no, we massively overpaid and are screwed for years! It's Haynesworth all over again!

/sarcasm

That is absolutely a fine contract for both sides.

Solid and fair deal for both sides.

And if I recall correctly, his initial tweets after the deal was outlined were very positive.....?
Very Happy with this whole deal.......

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins

Much less than what Fletcher wanted and even what Redskins were reportedly initially offering.

Now we wait to see what happens with guys like Trent Williams, Chris Cooley, D Hall, Jabar Gaffney and John Beck. Could see some cuts and restructures....no Williams won't be cut before you ask

Why are they keeping Beck on the roster at this point? Doesn't he make more than Grossman?

My guess is that they will use him as a camp arm and get rid of him during final cuts. It makes no sense to keep him otherwise...

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins

Not to take this thread off course but I "ignore" a lot of people because dailogue with them is rarely ever worth it,but I probably can't "officially" since I'm a mod.

Anyhow, others should probably do the same or just add people to your ignore list.

Now back to London...

Do you know how small this board would become for you if you added GT to your ignore list?

Apologies. You posted this while I was replying.

Agreed, I should have ignored him.

So back to Fletcher...

I fully expect him to play the next 2 years at a Pro Bowl level, not saying he'll be recognized but his play really has not declined. He'll throw in another couple of interceptions and plenty of highlight reel hits.

I don't see him retiring until he's at least 40 unless he decides to leave before his play falls apart. Many players stay a year too long but if anyone has the intelligence and integrity to actually realize it's time to stop before it is too late, I think London would be that guy.

I see it this way too. It would be ideal if we draft another ILB this year or next for London to mentor. He is one of the smartest defenders in the game and his coaching/mentorship would be invaluable.
