Re: Raheem Morris
Agreed. I'd go further than we don't have enough talent to we don't have any talent in the secondary. None of our starters would be starters on a good defense. (Maybe Josh Wilson as a # 2). I mean Victor Cruz just ran straight and got past 2 guys, with Williams literally just staring at him as he ran by. Williams also annoys me because he never plays the ball, always tries for the big hit. There was a play in the game where Manning fired a ball that zipped by Williams but Williams was running at the receiver full speed to try and blow him up. Williams has to go! Rather have Gomes play the rest of the year and see if he can improve or if he also needs to be replaced next year.

Re: Raheem Morris
I think that is most likely accurate. But we know for SURE that Williams time has passed. I'd rather let the younger guy play out the year and see if there is any improvement, like as in can he stick on the team next year as a backup/depth guy, or does he also need to be off the team. I'd like to see Meriweather, hopefully when he comes back he skips warmups. No accidents.

Re: Raheem Morris
I think the single biggest problem with the passing defense is that Haslett is too predictable. Both Bradford and Dalton had expressed anticipation for attacking any defense that Haslett showed and welcomed the blitze packages that he called. The Giants also were prepared, according to an ESPN breakdown, of the alignment with Cruz in the slot to make it an automatic Go route because Madieu(FS) would take the out and Wilson(CB) the dig. It was a no brainer before the snap.
So while players make the plays or not, the opposition also gameplans the coordinators for situational tendencies. This doesn't absolve the defenders because they know they have to make the adjustments, but it sure seems easier for the opponent when they know what's coming. Haslett's defenses have consistantly ranked in the bottom half of the league, and typically the longer he stays, the worse his team gets. It's obvious to me that a change is needed, and the sooner the better, before the season completely slips away. Last edited by jdc65; 10-23-2012 at 01:28 AM. |

But it was the offense that really lost this game. What comes next there?

The setup before the snap was a organized double team to anticipate the option route. The Giants ran the option route, and the play call for the defense was perfect. If you watch the play.. Williams was stoned and his feet flat. So Cruz ran right by him..
