Welcome to the offseason!
considering we are not discussing:
coaches we should fire
our owner under cutting our head coach a la dallas
circus show news reports a la NYJ
Shanny with an RG3 tattoo
how we traded up to the 10th spot to take a qb then got our HC fired the next season.

I think I am ok with the threads going on. Its a good time to be a skins fan!

We will win back most of that 18 million, they have no ground to stand on. no judge would let this happen in his courtroom. If Revis is available and Danny wants him, he will be a Redskin, for better or worse

Amazing that some still think we're getting that $$ back. Or that Snyder is calling any shots.

Isn't it understandable that people think Snyder still calls shots, after we found out he wasn't hands-off when Gibbs was here?

Cerrato: "No matter what anyone from the outside thinks, everybody has always had input in the decisions," he said. "Everybody has always had a say, and that's not changing. Before, it was Joe and I walking down the hall to talk to Dan about what our game plan was. Now, it'll be Jim and I walking down the hall to talk to Dan about the game plan."

So, at the risk of being obsessed, let me point out that during the Gibbs Era, there was no meddling and nobody talked to Dan Snyder about football and all he did was sign the checks, and also the draft strategy was based on his philosophy and he was instrumental in shaping the team’s free agency approach and he met with draft prospects and watched their workouts. Got it.

I hope Snyder really is hands off now, but that might depend on what the definition of "hands off" means.

Matty, how much distance does a typical "hands-off" NFL owner put between himself and the day-to-day football-side of management?

Owners have the final say and thats the only one that matters.

I think so too. There just seems to me a vast gulf between the articles I quoted, and what smootsmack said in his awesome "understanding the scouting process" thread. I believe SS, and really hope Snyder's changed that much in all areas of the "football side" of club operations. But I heard the same "Snyder's changed" mantra when Gibbs was here too, when in hindsight he hadn't changed. And I wonder now how owners thought of as "hands off" really do a lot more than just "sign checks".

Every owner has final say, even those like Paul Allen who are so out of touch with what's going on with their team. Sometimes the final say is "it's your decision" but it's still their call.

It is Snyder's team but no he's not intrusive in his involvement. Allen and Shanahan are the day to day bosses

Phillip Thomas/David Amerson/Xavier Rhodes/Baccari Rambo

If we can get Ray Ray Armstrong as a 5th or 6th rounder that is just gravy.

That is a good core for a defense to me
Three cheers for Ray Ray. Hope he is on the radar. Complete steel as a fifth rounder and beyond.

The jury is still out. But if the Redskins can get some of that money back, it would be excellent. But like you I doubt if they will be able to.

Re: Darrelle Revis is up for trade per Jets owner

For emphasis since some just are not getting it:

WE ARE NOT GETTING ANY OF THE CAP PENALTY BACK. NOT NOW. NOT EVER. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

YES. IT WAS UNFAIR. YES. IT WAS PROBABLY A VIOLATION OF THE PRIOR CBA AND EVIDENCE OF COLLUSIVE BEHAVIOR BY THE NFL OWNERS. NO - THAT DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE.

SOMETIMES BAD THINGS HAPPEN AND THERE IS NO REMEDY. SUCK IT UP AND MOVE ON.

For those of you who understood the above, I apologize for yelling - internet style.

Waiting for punch's post: "So, I get it, but does that mean we will never get the cap space back?"
