Does Josh Morgan go? Its going to get interesting in the next 4 hours
I hope that is a joke. I can't imagine cutting our best DB (and taking a cap hit thereby) when we have other DB needs to fill.

No joke, he is a nickleback at best in this league. He gets pushed around too much. He was slightly better than DHall but thats not saying much. I was suggesting we cut him and sign Talib and Toler, two guys who can compete.

So basically we would have a defense pretty much made of free agents, short term fixes for long term problems. I am glad the Redskins can't sign many free agents. You should really only have 2-4 free agents on your defense, 2-4 free agents on your offense. Everyone else should be drafted. There is something called "chemistry", in football that is important. Copy the good old Ravens. Or the 49ers, or the Packers, I'll settle for their success.

I left out the fact that I'd also draft 2 CBs in the draft and see what Richard Crawford looks like in year 2 as well as this 'amazing CB' we got in Chase Minnifield.

So you want the same secondary that an expansion team has: a couple of FA's and draft choices who are thrown together without concern for knowledge of scheme or chemistry. Great.

I would add that Josh Wilson is better than you give him credit for.

Don't worry Josh isn't going anywhere, but Josh Wilson gets pushed around a lot, which isn't good considering he's going against Dez Bryant and Hakeem Nicks twice a year. We need bigger more physical CBs; a secondary similar to Seattle's. Not these little fast guys.

Just a little nugget though about your other comment, The ravens secondary which they won the super bowl with was; Cary Williams (FA) Corey Graham (FA) Bernard Pollard (FA) and Ed Reed (drafted) They had just gotten Corey Graham that offseason so that was his first year playing; Cary Williams and Pollard came in last year. So there is some method to my madness of building a secondary. Like I say build through the draft, occasional FA. Just because I want these two FA's doesn't mean my team is fixed, I'm still going to draft guys to have them learn and develop behind them or incase the FAs don't work out.

Not the same as you suggested. Your suggestion amounts to gutting the secondary and starting from scratch, not the Ravens method of adding pieces over a couple of years to go with a wiley old vet.

So the Redskins have Ed Reed in their secondary now? I'm sure if any team had Ed Reed they would be a lot better. By the way the ravens secondary was a mediocre secondary last year, the year before they were better but they had Webb (who they drafted) so I guess that is what the Skins should be shooting for. A secondary that ranked 16th or 17th, instead of building a great secondary like the...

Steelers... ranked 1st Keenan Lewis (drafted) Polamanu (drafted) Allen (drafted) and Clark (FA)... one free agent
or the Seahawks, who drafted their entire secondary.

If you want a mediocre secondary then you can get a bunch of free agents and hope they mesh. If you want a secondary like the Steelers or the Seahawks... you have to have them build chemistry together, mainly through the draft.

Never suggested we have ed reed I was going by the whole premise that you can't get FA's to fill in your secondary to be good. Houston did it a few years ago with Johnathan Joesph and Daniel Manning; their defense went from 32nd to top 5 I believe.

Steelers aren't a good example anymore because they've really gone down hill. Seahawks I'll agree with.

I think Big Ben being injured had a lot with what happened with Pitt last year, they will be back this year. Steelers had a superbowl defense. They just had Batch and a broken Big Ben playing quarterback for them for the rest of the year. Houston also got a new defensive coordinator that year if you remember.

Wilson's statistics are better then Talib across the board, QB rating, comp percentage, first downs allowed, tds allowed. If Talib is so good, why did NE let him walk.

He's been on the market for 6 hours. It's not that they're letting him walk. He's listening to his offers.
