Re: Hard Decisions: The solution to the $18MM offseason puzzle
yeah, if we're taking the hit, we should go young and cheap (in general). no sense in paying hall 8mill when he's getting older and we already know he can't play. I'd rather have a midlevel replacement + young + paulsen + lorenzo.

Re: Hard Decisions: The solution to the $18MM offseason puzzle
I think he will get a 3 year deal around 13-17 mil total, with about 9 guaranteed.
And part of the reason that he got burnt so much last year is because of the horrid safety play the first 10-12 games last year. You put just an average guy back there at both safety positions, and Hall wouldn't have that statistical distinction. I wonder what his rank was the year before last in the same department, when our safeties weren't good, but they weren't as bad as this past years. I do think that is a very unfair statistic on Halls part. Like it or not, he was our best defensive back, and has been ever since he has been here. I hope he takes a huge paycut, and we can get him down to around 4.0 mil a year, maybe 4.5. But I doubt that will happen. |

Re: Hard Decisions: The solution to the $18MM offseason puzzle
So rumor around the world of twitter from redskin insiders is that the nflpa is willing to join the redskins in a lawsuit against the nfl since little to no free agent players will be making big money from the redskins since we're being sanctioned from the nfls collusion.

#Redskins will not partner with the NFLPA. Skins just want cap back, NFLPA wants to prove collusion to grab millions in damages. Last edited by CRedskinsRule; 03-10-2013 at 06:06 AM. |

I think the next 2 days are going to get really interesting. Wouldn't be surprised to see us sue the league the day before Free Agency just like them dropping the hammer on us the day before free agency.

What baffles me is a gentleman's agreement is just that nothing more, its usually not something you can hold someone to or in this case punish someone for. Otherwise they would have put it to paper all the owners would have signed it and it would have fallen into contract law. You can't have a gentleman's agreement to break the law......that's called conspiracy. I say file the suit. Name the NFLPA as a witness. Make the NFL sweat over what's going to come out, what will the Skins say about the "agreement". And will the Feds get involved if unwanted info gets out? Maybe then the other owners will concede and give back the CAP space so we can drop the suit. Besides the NFL agreed to the contracts when they should ha e denied them. |

In order for the Skins to get any cap relief I would think the NFLPA would have to sign off on the deal, unless a court ordered it, just like they had to sign off on the penalty. The fact that they want to use it to revisit the CBA or the collusion case instead of doing what is right, pretty much stymies any efforts the Skins might make. Like Schneed said earlier, these deals seem to show that the Skins are going to bite the bullet this year, and then move on. Hopefully DS learned a life lesson about over committing to pull in big name FAs.
