when i saw what we signed mcclain for, i figured baker was going to get something over $8m/year at least. my angst is generated by the fact that we signed a replacement for $5m/year.

we lost a stud (for a d lineman in the $6m/year range).

I think it is more because he was the only one on our DL that could be considered a legitimate starter for an NFL team, so we are now at square 1. They'd better hope Lanier develops and actualizes all that potential they are seeing. Our D line was a weakness last season, and while there is obviously a lot of time to improve it (FA isn't over by any stretch, draft), we just took a step backwards.

I hate losing both DJax and Garcon, especially Garcon. Hate it. That's a lot to swallow. And it isn't as though we used the money they would have commanded to lock up Cousins, who apparently (per the news reports) asked Snyder for a trade. WTF, man. It leaves the impression that no one wants to stick around -- Garcon, Baker, Cousins are good character/locker room guys, and DJax was by all accounts here as well.

He was the only decent player we had on the d-line. Now we're 1 further in the hole plus all the other holes to fill. Yeah I say this knowing we've signed 2 d-lineman (1 from one of the worst defenses in the league).

Yeah a decent player who just got double the money he was earning before. Not sure what he did to warrant that kind of raise but whatever.

Walter football rankings had baker #4, McClain #20 and Magee 23. We could have had baker and one of either of them. Why not keep our own and add one (preferably not dallas')

I can't blame him. He's an injury prone player that has his chance to cash-in. I'd honestly do the same.

Exactly. What a HORRIFIC signing by them. Lil' Dan love to try and stick it to JJ. But that is a laughable signing IMO.

Well, as long as he misses as many games for the Skins as he did for the Cowboys....

Gonna love watching Collins, Frederick and Martin kick his A** for the next 4 years.

Risky on their behalf. That's a lot of dough for an oft injured rotational guy.
