Re: Draft grades
If anybody can coach him up is Gray....I just think you take those type of players in the 6th round, not 4th. Im gonna go back and look who was there...but there were better BPA.

With that athleticism, he only started his senior year. Probably will be a bad pick, a reach. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Re: Draft grades
Keep in mind that there were 60 picks until our next pick. If Gray, or a college scout was super high on this guy, they may have felt he wouldn't make it 60 more picks. I tend to think this pick is one that somebody in the decision tree stood on the table for(figuratively) and said he was worth the risk.

Since he looks to be a special teams ace, you have the time to turn him into a valuable piece on the defense. |

torian gray does know what he is doing...transformed Nicholson into a decent starter and raised Fuller's level to probowl type level. |

One thing though, he initially was a receiver, he switched to DB in college, so maybe he still has things to learn at this position and really could get coached up. Let's hope they did see something others didn't... and if it doesn't pan out, hey they missed on a 4th rounder in a draft that began with us finally drafting a solid NT, getting a 3rd rounder back, drafting a promising RB in the 2nd and apparently a potential steal swing tackle in the 3rd, and then founding another good NT in the 5th round... nothing to get really crazy about.

Re: Draft grades
Cooley's Film Breakdown of "Mr Irrelevant" Trey Quinn WR
This may be one of the best 7th round pick ever. Cooley said he wouldn't have considered it a reach had we picked him in the 4th. Only negatives were "he's a little stiff as a runner" (but it doesn't really slow him down) and "the Pats didn't draft him", which Cooley didn't understand... In fact, he has no idea why he sled all the way down to the 7th round. Positives: great production from high school to college, great competitor, super smart player, solid hands, incredibly smart route runner, can sell any route. Not your #1 scare the defense deep threat guy, but Cooley sees him earning his fair share of snaps and making plays.

Re: Draft grades
I think when you take into consideration the fact that our 3rd safety is Deshazor Everett, a guy who is limited athletically but knows the position well, it makes more sense to reach for the athleticism.
Apke looks like the boom or bust type of player, it's hard to envision an in-between. I don't mind taking the flyer when you've already got solid but limited. We don't need solid but limited.

Re: Draft grades
Hopefully Quinn's a better competitor than Grant.

Re: Draft grades
Ryan Grant is good, I still don't see the doubt in the guy. He does the hard work that others don't like. He'll continue to do well in INDY if Luck is healthy

Agreed he does whatever you ask him to, which is valuable, but I'm not sure he's wowing anybody with any aspect of his game.
