Not sure Hoyer would be up for that. He's ready to be a starter if he's going to go anywhere

To me signing PM also means acquiring his successor. And if we want that successor to be good, it behooves us to draft him in the first 2 rounds.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Becasue if you watch him every week for every snap (like I have ) you will see he is average at best. I thin ka lot of fans wanted hi mto be the next best thing and now realize he is not so they are bitter. I don't hate the guy I think he is better then what we have but I also beleive he is as good as he is going to be. I think it would be safe to say if the Ravens had a healthy PM under center this year they would have at least been in the Super Bowl.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Well, by the sound of it, it doesn't sound like they really HAVE to negotiate with Manning. After all, it sounds like he would be happy with an incentive laced contract as opposed to a lot of guaranteed money up front. If this happens to be true, I'm sure any GM would jump on that deal in a heartbeat. It would be a no-brainer to sign PM then.

Edit: nevermind, I see what you are getting at now. I agree. Can't get PM without also getting a young stud. Otherwise we might reprise the Curtis Painter Experience.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Exactly...it's to big a risk to take without backing it up with as good a rookie QB as you can get your hands on. No one knows if Peyton is playing 1 or 100 more games...

The Redskins need to do whatever it takes to land their future QB in the draft. Last year we stockpiled draft selections and this offseason Washington needs to give up some draft selections in order to find their passer. If Landry Jones and Matt Barkley had declared for the NFL draft then the Redskins would have more healthy options. But with RG3 and A. Luck being the best two QBs in the upcoming draft, Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan need to do what it takes even if it means giving up a lot in order to land one of these two young quarterbacks two months from now. If the team does pick up Manning then I'd look to trade back for more picks as SS has stated and get more picks, then I'd take a developemental QB in round 2, and then look for OL. Depending on how many times we could trade back for more picks I might even look for another WR, TE, and possibly FB. The team needs to atleast pick up 1 really good WR in free agency. Christmas if they got two. |
