Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

I didn't say we couldn't draft one. I'm saying if you think RGIII or Luck could lead us to a SB just as Manning could. Why go for 3 years when you can go for 10-15?

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

Because it normally takes longer for a Young QB to become Elite , also Manning could be a great teacher for a Rookie QB. I just think its a good fit

1) No. But we'll have a better idea of his health.
2) Yes.
3) Yes. I think Manning will sign with someone quickly. Hurt or not, he is Peyton Manning after all.

In other words, I would be happy with any of these outcomes:
A) Luck
B) RGIII
C) Manning + Tannehill

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

You mean how Manning taught all the QBs that have backed him up over the years? So you want Tannehill and Manning with Tannehill sitting 3 years? To hell with that. If we don't feel the guy on the board can start day one, I don't draft him. The days of "sitting and learning and grooming" and any other BS label we wanna put on it are coming to an end.

I feel Luck is safer with a higher floor than RGIII, ceiling wise I go with RGIII, but I would love either. I just think that later down the line RGIII will have the slight edge but I will go on record and say that both will win at least one Super Bowl.

Now come on. Aaron Rodgers sat and was groomed behind a terrible teacher as a starting QB. And Rodgers is hardly a relic of a dead past.

Having the greatest QB ever to play the game start while we have a hot shot youngster learning the ropes sounds like a great plan to me. It's not the only possible plan but it is a good one.

Well A.Rodgers sat, Matt Flynn (Hot FA QB) sat. I'm JS it could work. Honestly I'd take Manning over any QB if healthy for the next 3 years over anyone but Luck

One is almost certain to turn out just Average, history and numbers for 1st round QBs show that so I'll say only 1 will win a title

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

The thing is Matt Flynn is going to get Kevin Kolb money for two games. Aaron Rodgers he sat but it's been said that Favre didn't mentor him. I like Manning always have, if this was 2004-2009, I'd be all for it but with the absolute garbage we have trotted out at qb for the 2 seasons with Shanny, you have to go get your drafted guy. Like Dirtbag pointed out what would we really be giving up trading what essentially maps out to a 1st and a 3rd? The next Brian Orakpo? The next Chris Cooley? I had an employee today tell me he wouldn't trade Orakpo and Cooley for a shot at a potential franchise QB. I almost fired him. I understand that McNabb and Manning are two different situations but the way the last two seasons at QB went you have to stake your reputation on a drafted QB to play now and not some mid-round groomable prospect.

I could flip a coin twice, chances are one time it will land heads, the other tails. I could land heads both times. Look at the first round of the '04 draft. Rivers, Roethlisberger, Manning. If I told you before hand that 2 of them would have 2 SB titles and they would all be elite you would have laughed and said one of them is "almost certain to be average."

I wasn't arguing against trading up for RGIII. That's a fine plan. BTW you should have fired that employee for stupidity.

But Manning +Tannehill is a good plan, too.

Let me put it differently: we have so many good options for getting better at the QB position that it will be a major fail if we don't significantly improve.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

I am trying to get more excited about Ryan Tannehill, I really am but I feel Luck and RGIII will be two of the elite QBs of the next generation, I just don't see that with Ryan "Clark Kent" Tannehill.
