Re: Portis apparently is not a dog lover

Wow.....I really can't see how this thread has gotten this many posts, on such a topic. My feelings are as follows:
- You want to fight dogs? Go ahead, but when you Pit gets loose and mauls some little girl, then you should be hung by your balls untill your dead.
- I never new CP and Vick were good friends? Why would you start asking random people about other people's buisness? If someone asks me how I felt about somone else's problems, I really wouldn't give a shit, and pop off with a smart comment like CP did.
- If CP gets in trouble for fighting dogs, then we should hang him by his balls until the end of the off-season, and in between games.....but he still better be able to run and get in the end-zone.

***All in all, this is stupid***

Unf-ingbelievable....
If it really was a joke (and I don't believe it was from the interview I saw), then I fail to see what portion of his comments were supposed to be funny. Please, tell me, where is the punch line that we're all supposed to be laughing at? Sorry, Portis was serious and he meant every word he said. I don't see how anyone viewing that interview could see it any other way.

You are correct. He was not kidding at all. Anyone who actually watched the interview on WAVY 10 (if you didn't there is a link on or around page 5 of this thread) and can count to 10 knows this.

CP just happens to be a fry short of a happy meal that's all.

Ok..I'm sure Gibbs would love for this to just go away but it won't if people keep acting offended. As some have said Lets move on. Clinton is Clinton and he's always trying to be funny and the center of attention. This one back fired.

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Portis' bark deserves a bite in the bum

Clinton wasn't joking. The sad fact is that the reporter gave him ample opportunity to backtrack and he still didn't get it. The statement he released after the fact wasn't any better either.

Portis is slowly on the way out of Washington in my mind. Things keep piling up with him. I wish we had Champ back.

You may be on to something.
His chat with the press was featured on Mike & Mike this morning. He is currently a finalist in the "just shut up" awards.

Seriously right now I would trade Portis for Champ and cut Springs. Who really would not take that??? Denver I am sure would not take it.

This thread has gotten truly ridiculous. Vick isn't even indicted and now everyone wants to hang Portis for saying basically everyone should leave Vick alone. What he said was kind of stupid, but certainly no reason to run him out of town. I'll be back to call everyone out when Clinton starts curning out 100 yard games and no one remembers this stupid dog comment. Let's try to remember that Clinton was not the one running the dog fighting ring. What he says does not matter. ... LET IT GO PLEASE! And I will try to do the same.

You are right LadyB, he doesn't get it...? I do agree with some of the other folks, IMO CP is slowly working his way outta DC. After this year probably, maybe 2 MAX. he's gone.

In addition to the whole dog-fighting moral issue, Portis' comments have hit the AP and are now linked up on the front page of FoxNews' website. Not only is this snowballing here, but has made its way out of the sports media into the national news media. The way the article and headlines are written, Samuels is being pulled into this as well (which I don't agree with, he just got caught in the crossfire of CP's mouth).

I don't think anyone here is running Portis out of town, but if you look at his cap numbers for 2008 & 2009, his injury last year, the relatively cheap re-signing of Betts, and the fact that he has a high amount of career carries for a 205 lb. back, the writing is definitely on the wall for him to be out before either the 2008 or 2009 season....unless as you mentioned he stays injury free and is churning out 100 yd games regularly.
