Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
Finally broke out of the funk tonight, beating Nashville 2-1 in OT. Caps also finally beat a team from the Western Conference.
Huge game thursday against Philly; they're starting to creep up on us in the points standings.

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
What a gutty performance on the road tonight against the preds!
The four game losing skid comes to a halt in OT (2-1). Thanks FED! Hard fought game times three.......BRASH, BRADS, ERSKINE, way to go for the team...even though all match ups didn't go as planned! Great game! Need to build off this one. Washington Capitals - Recap: Washington @ Nashville - 03/10/2009 GO CAPS!!!!!

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
Theo's stepping up. We need this kind of play come playoff time.
I'll officially stop calling him Jose Three-or-more for one week. Great win. We needed it bad. Let's get another solid win streak for some momentum into the playoffs. It would be great to play against Pittsburgh in the first round.

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
I caught OVY on the CAPS insider yesterday....he's much better suited for hockey. But good try.
In hockey related news, tonight a big tilt at home against the South East foe Canes which happen to be fighting for there lives. They are 12 points back in the SE. And we need a home WIN. This should be a barn burner! I look for us to maintain our MO and get our third straight very hard fought victory! Brash and Fed are out of the lineup for tonights match up. Capitals Insider GO CAPS!!!!!

Way to go Alex,Alex, Nick, & Green! Theo took a partial night off...looked a little sloppy. But made up for his break time during the middle of a game in the SO! 5-4 CAPS
Bottom line 2 points, and THREE WINS in a row! Hurricanes vs. Capitals - Box Score - March 14, 2009 - ESPN GO CAPS!!!!!

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
Yeah I was out with some friends having drinks at a bar in Bethesda last night. The game was on the big screen, and when Ovie slid that last shot in the place went nuts. It was pretty cool.

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
Some good news on the player front, Brian Pothier & Varlamov recalled Sunday. Hopefully the concussion thing will be a thing of the past for Pothier, or he will be for his own well being. I'm sure this is his last shot.
And the goalie news on Varlamov being ready to go is great. I really think hes our best #2 option. And has a very bright future with the club. Brian Pothier rejoins the Washington Capitals after 14-month absence - ESPN Posted at 2:20 PM ET, 03/15/2009 Pothier, Varlamov Rejoin Caps for Trip Fifteen months after suffering the fourth -- and worst -- concussion of his career, Brian Pothier is on the verge of returning to the NHL. His reconditioning stint with the Hershey Bears is complete. Pothier is a Washington Capital again and the veteran defenseman will accompany the team on its five-game road trip that begins tomorrow in Atlanta. I'll have more on the Pothier development later. Also, goaltender Simeon Varlamov has been recalled from Hershey. Michal Neuvirth, meantime, has been sent to the Bears. With back-to-backs in Atlanta and Florida, I have to imagine Varlamov will get into one of those games.

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
After back to back road games and a serious butt spanking last pm by the trash...5-1, and a poor outing by Theo!
Tonight the CAPS rebound vs. Fla. 3-0, solid team effort game! Good work between the pipes for Theo. He has to get consistent! But good solid win. Washington Capitals - Recap: Washington @ Florida - 03/17/2009 GO CAPS!!!!!

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
theo definately needs to be more consistant. some nights he looks awsome other nights he looks lost but really the same could be said about the caps entire defense, they need to be more consistant as well.

Quote:
Poti has not impressed when he has been given every opportunity. I think Poti was on the ice for every goal Monday night. And Theo needs to keep up the high level of play, that will be of key importance. Last night should have been an easy win for Theo he did not take ONE SINGLE shot on net in the entire third period and I believe it was only 19 or so the entire game.

Re: Washington Capitals 2008-2009 ongoing thread
Another solid road victory for the CAPS! 5-2 over the bolts
OVY stashes his big league leading 50th for the season! Green gets a duece, BADS finally gets his fifth, and Nylander gets one. All around solid game. Most impressive the kid between the pipes Varlamov, this kid is OUTSTANDING! And the future net minder for this club! We are only 4 points behind Boston in the East as the bees lost again, with 9 games left and we are in sole possession of the #2 spot in the East now. This is gonna be fun to watch down the home stretch! We have a chance to be the #1 seed. More than likely unless the bees continue to tank #2/3 is ours! Green hurt what appeared to be his shoulder in the last few minutes of the third, gosh please lets hope its minor. Capitals vs. Lightning - Recap - March 19, 2009 - ESPN ROCK THAT RED & GO CAPS!!!!!
