re: D.C. Examiner: Zorn's job in jeopardy? (not so fast he's coming back)

What a difference a month makes . I am glad I am no longer on Extremeskins site . Last week all the chatter was about changing QB... dumb...now we want to throw the HC out...I dispair ..

The one thing I don't like about this media age is opinion, rumor and innuendo become fact . The run on Campbell last week I think was started by a rumor on the ES board there was no fact to it . Now Snider is giving his opinion as fact and I hate to think what is happening .

The problem is the media and the fans are fickle and inconsistent with very short memories.

They say "We NEED to build through the draft" then shout and scream when the draft picks do not become instant stars .... you want an instant star you go out and buy one in free agency .

They say "We NEED stability" then shout and cry and demand change at the first sign of adversity ... We have lost 4 of the last 5 games but in that 4 game streak we played the Steelers, Giants, Ravens and Cowboys ... the game I am most upset about is the Boys game who simply sat on the short routes and we should have used more draws and longer passes to counter that but with a gimpy Moss our deap game was done for.

Taking the boys out of that the combined record of those other three is 30-9 . That is a rough patch for any team to endure . if you include the boys 38-14.

There are a lot of good things going on with the team, flashes from the rookies like when Thomas made the sideline catch and then just shed the DB who tried to make the tackle ... Portis pouting is not one of them but I think Portis is a speak first think later kind of guy .... think Mike Vick and dog fighting ... I think it is interesting one thing that isn't being talked about is Zorn trying to fix fences ...

The problem is if your team goes 6-2 and is in the nations capital it is going to get attention ..

Nothing the Skins do would surprise me but if they did this it would officially stamp the Skins and the 2nd worst franchise (Det is worst) in the NFL. This would be a stupid move of titanic proportions but like I said, its the Skins and nothing they do surprises me.

Thanks for that! *rolls eyes*
We all know teams deal with injuries. Especially @ this time of the season. But unless Zorn suits it up and starts running routes, covering WR's & blocking defensive lineman......I'm pretty sure he's (and yes other head coaches as well) at the mercy of a 2nd,3rd,or 4th string's talent & abilities!
He may adjust...but that doesn't make the players skills any better.

100% correct. The talent (or lack of it) is what holding Zorn back. He cant do what he wants because the players just cant do it.

I see alot of people commenting that he has a team that made the playoffs last year and he has the same defensive and offensive players. Last year we had Taylor and then after his passing the team used that to propel them to the playoffs and we just barely made it.

The fact that we have the same team and not an improved team is a problem that rests with the FO. Most of the other teams have improved and added new players. We have alot of old guys who are just a year older and at their age it makes a big difference. Blaming this on Zorn is ridiculous. You can't win with an offensive line that is basically a turnstyle and a defensive line that can't get to the QB even when we blitz.

I say it in another thread, the FO spends too much $ for the Skins to ever go 1-15 but they dont build the team the way championship teams are built so as a result this team is stuck (as its been for a long time now) in that zone between bad team and champion always finishing somewhere in the 8-8 range. What I am starting hear is that fans are beginning to feel the fan being bled out of them and that's not a good thing for ticket sales, etc.

Ya I really wish we would have hired Parcells and canned Cerrato to build this team the way it should be built, thru the draft. The fact Parcells was willing to give up Taylor should have told us to walk away from that deal.

Well some of the younger guys (Campbell, Rogers, Blades, McIntosh, Montgomery, Alexander) have another year of experience under their belts and some of the others (Horton, Thomas, Kelly, Hall to an extent) are just starting to get experience. And still others (Davis, Rinehart, Tryon) should start getting that experience soon.

The problem isn't as much having the players (though I agree they need more) to improve the team, it's more so making the commitment to play those players. The reality is that that commitment could mean you deal with a couple of dreadful seasons where we aren't hovering around the playoff picture until the final week. This team may just have to be awful to be great.

I agree those guys are getting more experience, unfortunately most are not playing at the positions where we need the most help, the offensive and defensive lines. I think our defense would be dominant if we had a defensive lineman that could rush the QB and command double teams. And I really think our offense would be pretty good if we could just provide some protection for Campbell. These are the areas where we haven't improved at all. In fact we lost Daniels which was one of our better lineman.

I hope Zorn gets fired. I want Cowher IN O9-10!! This guy might be able to be a head coach in 5-7 years but right now he's just a good coordinator. He would be a great o-coord. thats all.

Well, I think that we have some good young pieces (still missing a dominant piece) on the defensive line but would agree that we need much more help on the offensive line. Although I have really high hopes for Rinehart and think Heyer is at least decent.

Losing Daniels definitely hurt us, but what arguably hurt us just as much was that his backup who was supposed to play a bigger role this season (Alex Buzbee) got hurt on the same day.

St. Louis
Cleveland
San Fran

This is not going to happen.
The fact that a rumor such as this is being passed around (by some of you) and discussed as a possible avenue to success of this team is a REAL shame. Any of you Ninnie's endorsing such a move, need to spend a little more time looking for work................and less time here. Well....there is that drug test thing.....problem
