Seriously. A couple of years ago, I said without a doubt that he is my favorite non-Redskin NFL player of all time. Now? No way.

He's got a personal vendetta against Packers GM Ted Thompson, and he's too stubborn and arrogant to just go away quietly. He could have retired and rode off into the sunset as the most beloved and decorated player in Packers history. What a dummy.

The irony is that he's exhibiting many of the same traits we have long admired him for-that won't quit, give it all you got until you can't give anymore...and then give some more spirit that made him a fan favorite and helped propel his consecutive games streak

I see what you're driving at, but in this case I think that might be a bit of a stretch. Yeah, maybe he doesn't want to quit. But is it because he just wants to play football, or because he has ulterior motives involving the Packers?

I think his agenda has been totally self-centered for the past 2 years, and IMO these kind of antics don't qualify as "give it all and then give some more spirit."

What I'm basically thinking is that, at this point, it's no longer simply the love of the game/winning that's driving him. And if I'm right, he's no longer the football player I once revered.

Totally understand Scud, I think he's always been a bit self-centered and arrogant. I think you have to be to an extent to play in the NFL, especially at QB. But yeah this is getting ridiculous

Yeah, and I really think it's more the yearly soap opera and histrionics that are bugging people. If he had said last year I wanna play but Green Bay is running me out, everyone would have supported him. What we got instead was a tearful goodbye followed by a comeback followed by a diva-like list of demands. The problem is the endless deliberation and attendant media soap opera (part of which is perhaps not his fault) that seems to come every year. He's been holding training camp hostage for what, five years now?

As way back as 2005 he was asking "what are they gonna do, cut me?" when asked about the Packer's potential objections to his slow as molasses retirement deliberations. For all his pluck on the field, this is not a man who ever struck me as caring about any of his teammates, coaches or fans as much as he cares about himself.

Yes, ridiculous. Joe Montana was unhappy to move on to the Chiefs and he was unhappy to retire because of his competitiveness and arrogance. But he never pulled the shenanigans that Favre has. And Montana is just one example. I can't remember a major QB who was as infantile as Favre has been about facing the end of his career.

Or were they Wrangler? Anyways, he needs to let it go before he starts looking even more foolish than he already is.

Re: Favre a free agent

i hope he plays for the vikes this year. i like favre, he was the only reason i would watch the packers play. last season, he was the only reason i would watch the jets play, kind of like when barry sanders played . sanders was the only reason i would watch the lions. i love watching the nfl's greatest. favre is definately one of the greatest qbs to ever play, yes, he is no longer as good as he once was but he's still pretty good and he's still exciting to watch, so i say play on brett, play on.
