On to the smackdowns. While I'm not going to pin the loss 100% on Suisham, he has to make that kick. Period. High snap or not, bad hold or not, it's a 23 yard kick. It's a chip shot, essentially an extra point. Suisham has now missed 3 gut check kicks down the stretch that have absolutely murdered any momentum the team had. I've been a supporter of him since he got to DC, but I can no longer support him. Might as well give someone else a chance from here on out. At worst, it's a warm body and you can go in a different direction at year's end. At best, you have someone you can go into next year with. Out of the 4 reviews that they did yesterday, 1 of them finished in less than 90 seconds, which is what I thought was the time limit. Then again, the booth was on the field in front of me (I was in Section 203) so I'm not sure how much lollygagging the referee was doing. Just seemed like forever...almost seemed to me that they were trying to keep the Saints record perfect. But that's a conspiracy theory for another time. The video screens at FedEx need to be replaced. The review that stood with Meachem (I think) on the sidelines looked like his 2nd foot never got dragged before being out of bounds, so the entire stadium was shocked when it didn't get overturned. Snyder has the money, put some damn new boards in. Other than that, the Skins played a pretty solid game yesterday, and aside from the flukes, they outplayed the Saints, so bravo to them. However, bad teams find ways to lose, and they certainly did that yesterday. Oh, one more thing. Landry is awful. The Skins need to find a free safety to replace him and either put him back to strong safety or bulk him up to play linebacker.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Saints)
yeah it definitly looked like he only got one foot in those sorry ass dot matrix screens are soo freaking out dated. not to mention the stupid ass acorebord with the misletoe in the top corner with snow on the redskins at the bottom. only thing snyder cares about is more seasting in there which was atleast half empty in the club level

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Saints)
Listening to Doc Walker a minute ago. He says "for the first time this year, we have a team!" "A TEAM.........They look like they just came out of Carlisle"
He's right. The mix of guys we have on the field Don't think they suck. They apparently did not buy in to unbeatable New Orleans. I hope this stuff is not lost on the coaching staff and FO. Some of these guys have earned the right to be there and some of our long term vets may have been served notice. HTTR

I do remember another smack down. The field conditions were terrible. Almost like they didn't put the tarp down on Friday and let it snow and ice all over the field on Saturday to come up with less than stellar field conditions for a dome team coming to town on Sunday. I guess that's another conspiracy theory for another time as well...

He was not the first guy to touch the ball. The Skins player who was hit by the punt touched it first after the Saints' player had re-established himself on the field of play. BTW, on the replay, there should have been a flag on one of the Skins for blocking that Saints' player while he was still out of bounds. Flag never came out...

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Saints)
A couple of points here:
1. Mike Williams should be allowed to play guard but should never be allowed to play tackle. He played well yesterday. He has shown in several games that he cannot play OT. Of course, Heyer and Jones have also shown that they can't play OT very well... 2. Go look at the replays of the final minutes of regulation time yesterday. After Haynesworth left the field with an injury, he was back in the game on the Saints' final drive. Either he was so injured that he should not have been on the field or he just didn't feel like trying at the end of the game. Watch him - - not the ball - - when you see the replays. He was walking toward the QB and barely made contact with the OL. What's up with that??? 3. The saying on Wall Street is that one time is an occurrence, twice is a coincidence and three times is a trend. Three weeks in a row, the Redskins defense gave up the ghost when it needed a stop or a takeaway. There are lots of other circumstances that set up those situations but this week the Skins led by a TD with 2:00 to play and the Saints were 80 yards away with no timeouts. :vomit: 4. When Sherm Lewis showed up as "another pair of eyes", the Skins were 2-4. Since he has been here, the Skins are 1-5. But the offense has gotten better... Fill in the blanks here. :frusty: 5. Fred Davis picked up a blitz in the 2nd quarter. That may be a first...

I'm really not 100% sure what to think of it. Obviously I would want him on point 100% of the time, but at the same time, his disruptive nature is also blatantly obvious (Without AH, the rush defense against the Cowboys: 153 yards, 0 TDs; against the Eagles: 123 yards, 1 TD; against the Saints with AH: 55 yards, 0 TDs). The Saints may have a great pass offense, but their rush offense ranks 5th in the NFL (and that includes yesterday's horrific showing).

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Saints)
I guess you could go back to the sloppy field conditions maybe and see that Haynesworth just rolled on his ankle funny. Still, that was a knock on him in Tennessee. Not that he fakes being hurt but that he's not as "tough" as he should be. Worst part about that was forcing us to take a timeout and stop the clock.
