Re: Let It Snow

This is as bad a storm as I've ever seen in this area. Wow. Winds are really gusting and visibility is nada. I was out a few hours ago with my buddy in his big ass Chevy Tahoe. It's bad out there. Really bad.

There was a VW bug flipped over on it's nose on the side of the road right near my place. It had just happened. We stopped to help. There was already another truck there helping the dude. He was pretty shaken, but wearing his seat belt so he was ok. I felt like asking him WTF he's doing riding around in that thing in this weather, but I refrained.

Anyway, home now, scotch in hand and HD TV. Time to riiiide it out.

I have already shoveled twice, and finish a touch of alcohol. I may be moving to the drunk thread or the movie thread soon, rented district 9(haven't seen) and star trek (seen several times) so if i don't pass out, I will be watching those till I feel the need to shovel again. Onward Ho!

Re: Let It Snow

I braved the snow to go to the liquor store to replenish my beer. Got liquor already so I was good. Just finished helping 2 guys shovel their cars out of the middle of the street in my neighborhood.

Pay It Forward !

Yeah that is really an essential for this kind of weather. I've got enough scotch to kill and elephant, and plenty of beer/wine for the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Re: Let It Snow

I definitely fishtailed on the way home, coming down a hill. And that was around 6pm, where there was hardly any snow... I can only imagine how driving is right now.

I'm praying to God that the power doesn't go out.

The snow is really heavy and wet. It's just sitting on power lines and trees. There are going to be plenty of outages overnight. A close friend's parents live in Gaithersburg, and they lost power at 7:30pm and are still in the dark.

My other friend in Rockville has had his power go off and on sporadically all night.

Re: Let It Snow

Here's what it looked like out here (60 miles west of DC, near Skyline Drive) at about 7pm. This is a 2 lane road roughly equivalent to the Fairfax Co Pkwy. My advice is to stay home if at all possible. If you do go out, be prepared and don't be an idiot behind the wheel.

Re: Let It Snow

So guys I'm just coming from the bar. Can't bind the drunk thread, so I'm posting here. Wow, it's messy out there for sure. Me and my buddy tried to push a few cabs and it was nothing happening. I've never seen it like this in D.C.

Anyway, who's packing heat tomorrow?

Definitely scary conditions. Wonder if they closed Rock Creek Park.

The last snowball fight in DC, some cop showed up and started waving a gun around.

There's a big one going on at Dupont Circle tomorrow. The group for it on facebook has around 3,000 people saying they're going. (so they claim)
