Re: On the radar: Skins WR's

No more FAs!!!!! I like VJ, but we gave up a lot for Donovan and Jamaal. Too much of our future high picks for the next 2 years are going to someone else. Donovan was a great pickup worthy of the picks, but Jamaal is a question mark, if he is going to be worth the picks we gave up. We will have to give up a first rounder or two second rounders at a later date. We get VJ, we might only have what, one first round pick through 2013? How can you build a winner doing that? Everyone will be retooling with top notch talent and we will be just hoping our scouts do a great job at their talent search, which they aren't the best at. First and second rounders are more than likely future starters for you. The rest are PS fodder or busts usually.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's

Didn't we give up a second rounder for him? I know it wasn't like McNabb, but even a second rounder for a possible oft injured lineman isn't so great. Vj will exact either a first or two second rounders if we did acquire him. San Diego isn't going to give him up for free.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's

basically it was a conditional 3/4 depending on mcnabb's conditional.. in which they'll send a 5th back to us if it's a 3rd.. or a 6th or 7th if it's the 4th

then in 2012 there's a conditional 6th round pick

^Yeah, I figure that they think Thomas is a player meaning that he shows up for games and may not be the best at practice but is dependable on Sundays.

That little 41 yard touchdown in his recent game film won't hurt his cause either but at this point, I would be surprised if Kelly wasn't cut.

next draft. I don't understand your question tho. We have our 1st and 2nd for next year, AND next years class is likely going to be thinner because many more juniors than usual came out last draft - I dont have stats on that but it was what was being said this year. As for jamaal we got him basically for dropping two rounds in the draft, that's not a high cost.

As for the WRs. It seems like if kelly is a bust, thomas is avg and davis turns out to be a stud then that 2nd rd wasn't to bad a draft actually

Good call. Even Bill Polian says that the best talent evaluators hit on about 50% of draft picks. The scenario you describe is right at 50% - normal.

I think we could all as skins fans live with a stud TE and an average posession receiver out of 3 second round picks. More than some teams get. Id just like that average receiver to start being at least average this season though.

Agreed. DT has shown some real flash to be more than average, he really just needs to get it together on a more consistent basis.

I like Smoot, think he can be special. This could be the year he gets it together.

ALSO like C, I would say that getting a stud TE and one of the 2 recievers to pan out would be a win for us, and consistent with the league average.

Armstrong is the main one right now preseason wise. he is snatching them balls not letting tip of his hands or head.

Yes, I think he could be our new #3, with Moss and Williams pulling the 1 and 2.

What has Williams done to even be in the conversation. Galloway and Moss will start the season as the starters. in 3 receiver sets, Moss will slide into the slot and Armstrong will come in as the other wide out. By week 3 at the latest, i expect to see Thomas replace Galloway as the #2 guy in 2WR sets.

At least Williams has somewhat of a body of work to look at, Thomas has a preseason TD and low expectations that he can't even meet. Plus, he is dropping passes left and right. I think he will struggle to be the #4, or maybe even the team the way he is operating.
