If we do, then getting a QB will become a smarter choice too. I do not want Andy Dalton to be lost in the preseason to a broken ankle inflicted by his Center.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
trust me, NT is a bigger need for us than QB. It goes DL, OL, then QB IMO

Purdue's Kerrigan sacks the try-hard stereotypes - NFL - CBSSports.com Football
Old article, but for those who are concerned about his transition to the 3-4, read this excerpt: Quote:

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I just hope Haslett is finally smart enough to move Lorenzo Alexander to ILB next to London. If so and with the addition of Kerrigan, we will no longer be ranked near the bottom against run like we were last year. If we replace Golsten with a legit NFL 3-4 DE that will complete our transition into being a good 3-4 defense. I still see Golsten as the weak link. He is a good back up and good as a pass rusher, but weak against the run.
3-4 defensive linemen have to be able to stop the run or else catastrophe like 2010. |

For me, the real wildcard is Jeremy Jarmon. He's battled injuries and losing/gaining weight (per team request). Will he finally step up as a factor this year?

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
The trade down is crucial--we need live bodies, especially on D.
As for Kerrigan, I like what I've read, but, as with any pick, there are no sure things. Given what we know today (and that's all that we can take into account here), it's an A. (And, to be honest, I'm just glad we didn't shit the bed as we have so often in the recent past. We did the obvious thing. Trade down in a deep draft and pick up help for our woeful D. It's an A for the skins. Just being normal is awesome!)

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I gave it a B. Kerrigan is a starter for sure, just wish we were in a 4-3 to use him in. I still rather have Orakpo and now Kerrigan play the position the were drafted in.

Still I remember last year people were saying we were a 4-3 team trying to run a 3-4. Now I look at the moves they made, Drafting Perry Riley last year, trading for Cariker last year, Signing OJ, drafting Kerrigan to play OLB, getting Jenkins to play the nose. I'd say we are now officially dealing with 3-4 personnel. Oh yeah, and if Kemo is recovered from his achilies then thats another 3-4 guy.

I do think we are in better shape for the 3-4 now, hopefully now we can focus on the offense in free agency (and hopefully we can find some gems in the next couple of rounds.
