Is Seattle having money issues? Two unknown minor league pitchers for the greatest hitter in the game since Pete Rose? He's still great, not quite the Ichiro he used to be but worth way more than they got back in return. Funny part about this deal...the two teams were playing in Seattle. Ichiro just showed up the the park as usual but went to the other locker room, suited up and went out and got a hit in his first AB as a Yank. Crazy deal....never saw this coming. I didn't think Seattle would ever part with him. The fans are probably pisssed. Japan too...since Seattle was just a plane ride away.

Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
I think the Mariners even gave the Yankees cash as part of the deal. Seattle had to do something, Ichiro didn't want to be part of the rebuilding process. Still, has to hurt for the fans

Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Yeah, Yanks paying approx. $2.2mil if the $7.6mil salary...less than half the price for half a season, so Seattle chipped in some cash.
With Gardner probably not coming back, Swisher hurt now...smart move, so they don't have to rely on Andruw Jones and Dwayne Wise down the stretch. Ichiro wearing #31, not Bernie's number.

Don't blame him. He's 38 years old.

BTW, rumors are that Ramirez is indeed being shopped now. Among possible suitors, I'd pull for the A's to grab him. |

Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Hanley is a Dodger now.
Also, the Phillies just made a STUPID move. They've been trying to trade Cole Hamels. No one wanted him for the salary he makes....so the Phillies made him the 2nd-highest paid pitcher behind Sabathia after failing to trade him. Bonehead move. He's not worth THAT money, and definitely not worth more than Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay. They're going to regret this I think.

Man, I'm just seeing this story now about Cal Ripken's mother being abducted at gunpoint last night. Thankfully she's ok now. Crazy though
